Resolved ABS repair or replace (MK60EC1)

Looks like ABS is out on my A3 2008 1.6 with amber ABS and EPS constant light and flashing red brake sign when the car is turned on. The garage diagnosis showing code 01130. Not yet run through VCDS due to work but have booked for one by end of month. If ABS is at fault, then as far I can find only 2 options either to send for repair or replace with used identical unit which probably is cheaper option. I don't have skills to take out or install the unit by myself so will be using garage's help. I can unscrew the bolts but bleeding not so sure. Problem is I can't find identical unit on used market and I've been looking almost everyday. What I am failing to understand is even if found ABS matching the current one, is it just a simple thing to replace and code? or there are other complicated things involved? Also what other units are compatible as one to one replacement.

ABS part no : 1K0 907 379 CD / 1K0 614 517 BD

I am also trying to find some sensors like longitudinal, brake switch etc but before taking the trims out, just want to make sure the model year of the car. The car is 08 registered in UK with facelift. VIN : WAUZZZ8P69A008255

Besides what @Boki Ar posted above, It needs to be a complete Auto-Scan ; unedited (do not crop off header at the top of the scan) and most importantly it needs/must be from a Legitimate / Genuine Ross-Tech product (VCDS). If your mechanic is using a clone/copy of RT VCDS..... your on your own!

I asked and was told it's genuine Ross Tech Hex. Looks like definitely the ABS module need replacing. I can get CC version used from used marked for circa £80 while direct replacement AN is almost double price. Also I've been offered 1K0 907 379 BE from very low mileage car.

Counter-intuitively, your CD is ancient (and highly failure-prone). CC is the newest (and likely the most reliable) although coding will need some "tweaking" to work with it. BE is in between. If it were mine, CC would be my first choice, and BE second. I would not do the AN unless it were free, and even then, I'd be keeping my eye out for a better one.

Many thanks. I've already had look on linked New MK60EC1 ABS Lable incl. Long Coding, Adaption and MVB and was not sure if all the listed in table are backward compatible or only with index AH, AJ, BH, BJ, BK, BL and CC. I'm not sure if BE is compatible as this post has discussion about BE possible being incompatible? One small correction BE module is brand new while CC is used.

It's not clear to me whether that was really the problem or whether the instrument cluster might have been the problem. None of these ABS modules will accept coding if they can't get the VIN from the instrument cluster. Mind you, I'm not claiming that the -BE is compatible. TBH, I'm not sure, but I do know lots of people have gotten modules to work that aren't on the "official" replacement path in the parts catalog.

Many thanks. Managed to land CC version from bay market for £75. So the correct procedure is bleed & remove, replace, bleed, coding and basic settings? For the first 3 I can either try by myself or get garage's help and coding + settings from VCDS guys.

Yes there was someone on here not long ago who threw in one on a wing and a prayer and unbelievably got it to work. If you ring Audi UK they quote the AN as the replacement for the AD. I only used AN for this reason as I didn't want the hassle with other pumps and modules. The average price when I was getting them was about £150 used which is a lot better than the £1200 Audi were looking.

Alex who did intial diagnostics changed ABS (CC version) today but the code got rejected. We tried adding 4 zeroes to original code and few other things. Everythime came up with error. " Re-Code invalid; This apperas to be an uninitiated control module valid....." or some sort of like long string. Any ideas pls.

You cannot just add two bytes of zeros to a 20 byte module. See from second bullet point down:

Can you explain how to change those bit / byte values pls? We thought first need to input code and change the values later in long coding helper. I believe Alex also tried with long coding helper but there were some bit value missings.

Sorry. I understood bit/byte adaption but not sure if the coding first need to be accepted. Or just start from long coding helper, input old code in field 1 with 4 zeroes added and change bit/byte values. copy the new code back to coding and see if it goes through? Not sure but I think we tried something similar and byte 19 had some kind of empty field like error.
