That's so true - employers in the UK are moaning that they can't recruit cheap Eastern European labour following the Brexit vote, well if they paid decent wages then UK nationals would take the jobs and there wouldn't be a problem (and might never have been a Brexit vote...).

Cummins Inc has agreed to recall about 500,000 medium- and heavy-duty trucks in the United States to correct a faulty emissions control system in the engines it made for the trucks, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said on Tuesday.

The EPA said the problem does not involve illegal software known as “defeat devices,” which increase the effectiveness of emissions filters to mask pollution levels during tests.

WHAT!

http://europe.autonews.com/article/...smissals-following-diesel-scandal-reports-say

VW plans wave of dismissals following diesel scandal, reports say
IMHO the VAG Board should take 100% responsibility for knowingly allowing the engineers and managers to continue working on "cheat" software.

The engineers had an idea which they should have been told NOT to pursue as it was illegal, but since the job of engineers is to innovate and not be lawyers I don't see that dismissing the engineers is appropriate.

I'm sure every engineer has at some time in their career had a "great idea" that turned out to be illegal or immoral - I know I did (several times)!!!
