Resolved MK4 cluster swap problem

I'm swapping clusters in my 03 Jetta tdi; Following the instructions on this forum, with the new(used) cluster in, when I go to adaptation channel 50, I get error channel not available... What am I doing wrong?

Big problem now. After unsuccessfully trying to install the new cluster, I put the old one back in, now the immobilizer is on...HELP!!!!

Seeing as how you can't buy new clusters anymore, can you post an autoscan with the cluster you're attempting to match installed? And then a second autoscan with the original cluster?

That will get us the part numbers and software version numbers of each as well as the current error codes.

Also, since I assume you're attempting to match a used cluster, on immo III clusters, which yours should be, you would first need to login with the cluster's CURRENT PIN first before going to adaptation 050. Then once in 050, you need to enter in the PIN number of the old cluster/current ECU to complete the process.

If you don't have both PIN numbers, you will not be able to successfully accomplish this.

Thanks Dieseldub; I will do that. I've got the original cluster back in and working; after more research, someone suggested the green plug was probably not seated all the way; now. with the old cluster in, I can access channel 50. I'll give it another try today with the new (used) cluster

Issue resolved! I got the new cluster in, and all the keys matched. The problem was the green plug on the cluster not fully seated.
