DPF Replacement

Hi Everyone,

I am a new VW owner (2009 JETTA TDI wagon) and just bought a VCDS hookup. I am replacing my DPF with a used DPF with very low kms that I found for cheap off someone. Does anyone have any thoughts about recoding the used dpf; I am wondering if I can just follow the Ross Tech steps on here for resetting the ash levels? Because the dpf is used can I just tell it that the levels are at zero even though there is going to be some ash in there? Can I force a regen after to clear that soot aswell or what would people recommend? Sorry for the rookie questions, just new to this system.

Yup. On this engine (presumably a CBEA), the New Value in in Adaptation channel 15 should be the mileage in the replacement DPF in km divided by 1000. So if the replacement DPF has 50,000 km on it, put 50 in there.

Since you are fitting a used one, it would make economic sense to get the used one professionally cleaned first before you fit it (and save removing it again in the near future), then you can reset the values to zero. Less to worry about

Go to the Security Access function in 01-Engine and pause there for a few seconds. VCDS should pop up a yellow info balloon with two security access codes.

May I ask why you are replacing the DPF on such a low mileage specimen?
My prior '10 (CJAA) went to vw heaven with its original DPF still going at almost 300k kms....

My previous one was cracked, had low differential pressures and excessive soot past the dpf… and I basically got this new one for free…

VCDS should not be in the Program Files tree. Our download page explicitly tells you that, and the default installation location is not there.

Please remove VCDS from wherever it is currently and re-run the installer. Let it install VCDS either in the default location (C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\) or somewhere in your User tree, e.g.: C:\Users\[your username]\VCDS\
