Hello all...
I have a 2012 US-spec TTRS, and 3 questions.
Question #1:
I would like to change the instrument cluster to Rest-of-World (LHD) in order to stop the stupid dinging from the cluster when the key is in the ignition with the door open.
I am able to change the code without issue, but when I do this, my gas gauge magically drops something like 1/16th of a tank. It reads too low, and I'm not sure why. I've verified this by topping the tank and then changing from US cluster to RoW cluster while sitting at the gas station, and the needle visibly drops off of "F" when in RoW and returns to the correct spot when back in US cluster mode. Oddly, if I change the cluster to Canada (instead of US), the gas gauge maintains its accuracy, but this doesn't eliminate the dings I'm looking to remove so RoW seems to be my only answer.
I'm aware that the FIS/DIS cluster display values change when switching to RoW, but it allows me to alter the units back to US/English so I'm not sure why/how this would affect the gas gauge.
Is there a way to fix this? I'm aware that there are Adaptation channels in Instruments that allow me to tweak the location of the needle, but I don't understand why US & Canada spec would be accurate while RoW isn't. Or does each country have its own independent Adaptation values that don't affect each other??
Question #2:
On my old VW (2008 R32), switching to Euro/RoW cluster enabled the ability to use the Euro "side parking light" feature, where one light on the front and rear of the car stay lit when the indicator stalk is left in that direction when exiting the car. This was a feature that I really liked, because I occasionally park on a curve on the street in front of my parents' house, and the increased visibility was very nice.
The indicator stalk on the Audi has the appropriate "P <-" icon that indicates this function, but leaving it in a position does nothing, even with the Instruments in RoW mode. I suspect that I might have to alter the lighting setting in module 09 byte 18, but that drop-down box comes with dire warnings so I didn't want to touch it without consulting with experts first. (If nobody from Ross-Tech answers here I will be e-mailing, being a registered VCDS owner.)
To my knowledge, the only differences between US-spec and RoW-spec lighting on an 8J/Mk2 TT is that the headlights have an amber slash with amber LED behind it for the sidelight (at the end of the DRL strip), and the RoW tails use amber instead of red turn signals (I wish we had those, even though the full-red is nicer to look at). I have a few concerns about altering the lighting drop-down.
Question #3:
Why can't I enable rain-closing on this car? It has a RLS, but the coding screen for the RLS is missing the check box in Byte 0 / Bit 1, "Rain closing active." If I manually flip Bit 1 to ON, the coding does save / accept, but it still doesn't seem to work. (I've already enabled the appropriate bits in module 09 for rain closing as well.)
A recent full auto-scan is below. I own a HEX-CAN so I can re-scan or do anything else requested. I'll be providing a full "virgin" scan for the car in the appropriate subforum as well. I have an aftermarket radio in the car because RNS-E is awful, that's why there are errors regarding radio connectivity.

- If I change it from 77 to 59, will I be able to change it back? Why does this dialog have dire warnings?
- Assuming 59 will enable the Parking light feature, will the car then treat the amber sidemarker light as part of the LED DRL? If so, this would mean the amber sidemarker is lit whenever DRLs are on - currently the sidemarker only lights when DRLs are "dim" to act as "city lights".
- What the heck is 58? I'm not sure why 77 or 59 claim "LED DRLs (front/rear)" because there are no LEDs on the rear of the Mk2 TT.
