Hello!

I just got a Volkswagen Up! TSI in Brazil (yeah TSI as in turbocharged!)

When trying to do an autoscan, VCDS queries the module in adress 19 and since apparently it does not exist, it gives me this error:

Scan: Auto-detect
Funcion not supported by the gateway.

Any ideas? I did a manual scan on 00 to 7F and found active 01, 03, 09, 15, 25, 44 and 56.

I did a manual map of those and emailed support aswell.

Opening a thread here aswell maybe it's easier?

Thanks for the help!

Well, that makes it rather unlike any Up! we've seen in Europe.

Please put this entry in MyAutoScan.txt, then do an Auto-Scan, and post the results.

12, Unusual Up, 01,03,09,15,17,19,25,44,56

(Yes, I have 17 and 19 in there because I'm in disbelief that those don't "talk" in a new car)...

Thanks for the reply Uwe!

Indeed it found 17, but no luck on 19. Here's the autoscan (I supressed the VIN, do you need it?):

I see that BCM also has a task of gateway, but don't know why this isn't on the scan.

I don't have answer(s) right now. Looks like VW changed something here for this this 2016 model. We will have to do some digging...

Is there any chance your dealer will give you a copy of the ODIS report he should have made when he did the pre-delivery inspection on this car?

Nice catch. Here's Partslink24 info for this car:

"34D 937 087 D 937-050 control unit (bcm) for
convenience system, gateway
and onboard power supply on request
Also available in color"

So VW seems to be describing the 09 module as handling the functions of 19-CAN Gateway which would make this a weird exception to the norm, sort of like how the B7 A4 had the 17-Instruments handling Gateway duties rather than having an actual separate module.

We have seen this behavior before in several other South American and Chinese models. There will be a temporary workaround in the next update (i.e. a special Auto-Scan entry), a more proper long term solution is currently up for discussion. ;) Short story, all models with 34D BCM don't have a conventional gateway which is why VCDS can't find one either.

Uwe, you mean the car asbuilt with all the codes you can feed to ETKA?

They didn't give me one but I have one I took from erwin.net if you need it?

Thanks for the help! Anything I can do to help with the long coding helper on the modules? Or adaptations, etc?
