I would like to suggest to have car profiles/favorites that can be selected on the first screen when opening vagcom. When selecting a car it can show a custom control module screen containing only the controls modules that are in my car and when going in auto scan the proper model can be selected by default. The custom control module screen could show the modules availiable for the model you configure but it would be nice to be able to customize the list also. Customizing it could make it possible to remove the radio as an example if you have disconnected it and are using aftermarket radio.

I work on my own 2 cars for 99% of the time and it would be great not having to search for the proper autoscan or navigate through control modules I don't have in the control module selector.

What kind of cars are they?

Modern cars, starting around 2005 or so, have a Gateway Installation List and when you click [Select], VCDS automatically reads it and shows you buttons only for the control modules that are actually in that car. Auto-Scan will also only scan modules that are actually present in the car.

If you have an older car that doesn't have Gateway Installation List, you can create a custom Auto-Scan entry for it, which will appear at the top of the list of the drop-down list.

VW touareg V10 2003, VW Multivan 2.5 2004 and Audi Q7 Etron 2017. The Etron has the gateway installation so it's not a problem like the two others. I will try to make a custom auto-scan entry so I don't have to browse far down in the drop-down list. I didn't know about this feature. Can I do something with th control module list also? I so often misclick on the modules and then have to wait until it times out and find the proper one and that would be nice to avoid.
