Hi I am getting this code 001592 with P0638 on my 2009 Jetta TDI. I took the throttle body off and cleaned it. Could not remove the cover there was restriction and I did not want to break it. After putting it back together I tried to calibrate the throttle body with the system, but I am not sure if it is working. I hate to buy a new one if it is not the problem. Anyone please help me. This is my first time on the Forum and using VAG Com. Thanks Daniel

Hi Uwe!
Here is tonight Scan!
I ran the Throttle Valve Control Module (J338) Adaptation tonight with no luck. IT ran for 15 minutes with noting. no error no working no finish.
Does this mean my throttle valve is bad?
Thanks Daniel

Did you verify the TV can move backwards 5mm before it moves forward?
Lubricate real good and try that by massaging the butterfly in reverse direction just so slightly.

Then try to readapt.

Hi Jack!
So I should remove it again and lubricate it and move it backwards 5 mm until it moves in both direction. last time it moved only in one direction and it was open a bit.
You mentioned TV is that the butterfly?
Thank you so much!!

Jack should I try to remove the electrical cover on it ? I tried last time but it would not come off. Is there a coiled spring or something in there that prevents it from coming off?
Thanks again!
Daniel

TV = Throttle valve.......Butterfly is the flap inside you must clean and verify.

Use WD 40 on the butterfly flap........ seems to work well and doesn't damage anything.

Jack that is what I put on it last time. After working on it to free it up, I should be able to run the Throttle Valve Control Module Adaptation just by hooking it in the wiring harness. This way if it does not work I wont have to take it back off? Then a new one? Thanks again!!

Are you in basic settings or blocks and did you turn them on?

I show a fluctuation in that channel typically 1st field from 4.7% to 96% when running that basic setting.

It will do it about 4 times before completing here if testing this channel.

FYI:
ADP should be done in adaption 10 channel 124 after a login of 12233 security access in 0x01-16-12233

Hi Jack!
I took the valve to VW with a print out of the scan. The electronic department guy told me to change the valve. At the parts department the guy said the valve was bad because it was partly closed. The new one was wide open with a revision change $421.00 plus tax. Old Part number 03G 128 063D The new one got a different last letter from D to ??. I ran the Throttle Valve Control Module Adaptation on the new one and the valve opened and closed about 4 times. All Good now!!!!
Thanks Jack it was nice to have your support. Daniel

Hmmm I wonder if slipped on the gear internally on servo or if return spring broke?

Take the side cover off to find out what happened.........

Take pictures and upload please.

Hi Jack! I finely took my old throttle Valve apart and fixed it . It was the shaft that was seized . It only needed some WD40 and motor oil into the casting hole that leads to the shaft. With light tapping on the disk with a piece of wood. The restriction on the cover was due to the electrical connection and two plastic alignment pins. No issues to re-assembling it. I took some pictures of it when it was apart and a video of the TV adaptation routine with VCDS. It opened and closed freely 2 or 3 times. I am not too sure how to post the pictures and video. I will try to get it posted. Too bad I did not try to fix it before buying a new one! Now I have a Throttle Valve for sale.
Thanks Daniel

Danielson........ The TV and pedal sensor POTS are pretty rugged from what I have observed.

They can be damaged or impaired usually from some type of FOD.

You can now sand the floor, paint the fence or WAX on WAX off as a treat.

My detail as a kid was the hated cleaning of diesel piston ring lands, in a bucket of kerosene with the old rings.
Then to be followed up by scrubbing cylinder bores with a toilet bowl brush after honing and then polishing cranks with old socks rapped around proper emery grades.

Daniel was evil and I agree according to Jef in the bar.
