Good Afternoon.
I was going to turn off the EGR valve like on my other cars and the Engine Controller needs a security access key or PIN/SKC.
Not sure why or what to do next, other than fix the glow plug wires.
We have not had this car long and I am sorting it out and don't know much about its history.

I'm not aware of any way to turn EGR "Off" on any TDI via diagnostics. On the older, EDC15 ECUs, it could be reduced some, but those ECUs did not have any closed-loop feedback for it. The EDC16 ECU in your car uses a Lambda sensor to close the loop and I don't think anyone has ever come up with a way to change the amount of EGR it runs via diagnostics.

Thanks
My other cars have ALH motors, I was confused when I could not log in to adjust the EGR on this car with the BEW motor.
VCDS screen said something about controller did not match the car, or had been changed and I needed a security key. This is different from what I was accustom to seeing.
With where this car is going to spend the winter I am going to make sure the EGR cooler is mounted properly and replace the piping.
I am surprised there is not more on the EGR cooler recall brackets not being done properly which is why the pipes break and people delete the EGR system.
