2012 Seat Ibiza DPF light doesn't clear

So my daughter has returned home with yet another problems that requires assistance from Dad's garage :). This time it's the DPF light that won't clear. I have carried out a complete scan but I'm not getting any error codes.
The only code I am getting is Mode 03 Missions related fault code, 7E8 when I carry an OBD2 scan and I an unable to clear this.

Hmm.. DPF light on with no fault codes is quite strange. Incidentally, "7E8" is not a fault code. It's the address that responded to the generic OBD-II query.

No, not the ash. If the SOOT mass is above 40 grams, ECU won't allow DPF regen.

Ash is residual of burned soot, burned oil deposits, etc. The ash capacity of the DPF is probably somewhere at 80 grams. For the exact number there should be a parameter "Particulate filter ash limit" .

I have tried to carry out a static DPF regen but this isn't available, only regen whilst driving.
Did you trigger the regen whilst driving? Did you actually drive the car? Long enough (30 minutes)?
What I have observed (on different engines though) the triggering turns on the DPF light (without fault codes) and you need to finish the full cycle before the light turns off. The soot mass values (12.30g, 8.34g) possibly indicate that the DPF regen has not finished yet.

Please post engine's full blockmap data - it should contain information at what phase (of DPF regen) the engine is - preferably hot engine idling.

The DPF light was on when my daughter left home and drove 200 miles to our home, but the light didn't extinguish. She has had this problem on and off for the past 18 months and knows how to manage it, to get it to regen with long drive and rpm > 1500. She does regular 1hr+ journeys.
She has had it looked at by a garage, they inserted an plate at the EGR valve and changed some coding, not sure what was changed.

Please post engine's full blockmap data - it should contain information at what phase (of DPF regen) the engine is - preferably hot engine idling.

Fill fields/tick boxes:

Click on Go​
When finished click Done, the logged file blockmap-01-... will be in folder C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\Logs\...

Well, definitely quite a challenge then. Possibly the blockmap still can tell what the engine is doing. E.g. time/distance since last regen etc.

Anyways, perhaps the garage - which blanked the EGR - could tell what else besides the EGR might have affected?

The reason for this is possibly that the last 320km was done with the DPF light ON and in limp home mode. Since I posted the blockmap scan, I have managed to carry out a regen whilst driving and the lamp extinguished itself after a lengthy drive and all seems to be good in the world again.

My daughters driving is a mixture of short journeys around town at the weekends, followed by 2 long trips during the week, in which she is able to put her foot down and get the DPF up to temp (Not that she needs a excuse to put her foot down :) ). It just seems that the regen may not complete and DPF light comes on. Is there anyway that the frequency of the regen could be increased?

Something I found during my initial investigation was 'failed or incomplete' on the following:

Secondary air system monitoring
Oxygen sensor monitoring
Oxygen sensor heater monitoring.

There were times when they would pass, but the majority of the time they failed. On this I replaced the oxygen sensor but the same failures occurred with the new one. Any reason why they should show as failing?

IIRC there are some other conditions too - more 1/4 tank of fuel and engine rpm high enough (can't remember the details as I've never owned a diesel with a DPF) - so there needs to be sufficient diesel in the tank and a fast cruise in a high gear might not trigger a regen as the engine rpm could be too low.
