Hey everyone,

So here what is going on, I am at a loss for what todo for my 2006 Volkswagen Jetta TDI. I am wanting to upgrade the stock Halogen headlights to a brighter LED headlight. But my main issues are that it would trigger the B.O.I light on my dash and I do not wish to modify my stock headlight assemblies. From what i gathered online the information is extremely limited, and i know how picky the canbus system is on the VW. All I know up to this point is I can possibly use the H7 Mini LED bulb style that mimics the stock style bulb, but that problem lies with triggering the BOI light on my dash, which i don't want to see and keep working for when a non LED bulb fails in my vehicle.

I've gone thru a few brands online and they all promise around a 98% Guarantee to work with most canbus systems but say "May also require a canbus decoder adapter or resister." and generally specify BMW, VW, etc. And there lies a second issue of potentially having to modify the stock headlight assembly which I absolutely DO NOT want to-do. So I am up for any suggestions and advise people have and what not. Worst case scenario, i can always upgrade to the SYLVANIA ZXE bulbs or something you guys recommend, so i can actually see better at night.

Main Requirements:
Cannot modify Stock Headlight assemblies
Does not trigger BOI Light

(Legend: BOI = Bulb Out Indicator )

No, as @MVB_ says it's in the CECM at address 09 not the instruments at address 17.

Oh thanks lol, i dont typically mess with coding alot. I assume unchecking these two will just disable the boi light for the headlights?

Low beam is for your outer H7 on a halogen headlight & High beam is for the inner H7, so change what you need to in 09 Cent. Elect.

Remember that any coding changes you make are saved back in the Ross Tech debug folder in codinglog if you forgot to write down what you did.

So i've also been told there could be potentially flickering issues, does the coding pretty much circumvent that? I've also kinda been told that could be an issue with canbus related problems. just doublechecking lol

Unfortunately, even after changing the setting as u guys said in Cent Elect. , The light still does come on, at least when I turn on the light's. Light turns itself off when lights are off after a few moments. Here is the codes posted below.

You most likely need a tool that can access the eeprom of the BCM and change the lamp diagnosis and type settings through there. VCDS cannot do that.
