Hi Uwe and all others, long time long see.
Please be advised that I am a verified user and owner of my own VCDS, and as mentioned below, will post scan later today or tomorrow, just need a little help first
In the small motor club I am the leader of, we just got a new member with a 2004 Touareg 3.2 BAA engine, GLJ automatic GB, engine throwing the P1340-002, but I have used the VCDS and confirmed in ch 82 as well as in 208 and 209. The values given is between +0,5 down to -1kW, so well within the limits for chain (so therefor I’d like to deem camchain not stretched, but I might very well ve wrong). Car has now 229000km, and had the timing chain replaced at 115000km (or thereabouts).
I got the same readings a month or so ago, and told him to get a new cam sensor (G40), which he has done, but same issues still. During cranking and engine running the engine speed is presentet at all time, so that point to the engine speed sensor is working.
This is from the VCDS information.
Info (this is just a copy from the logfile for engine fault)
VCDS Version 22.10.0.1 HEX-V2 CB: 0.4623.4
Data version: 20221026 DS344.0
VIN: WVGBC67LD030904 License Plate: BR 39069
Milage: 219422
Adress 01: Engine Labels: 022-906-032-BMX.lbl
Control Module Part Number: 022 906 032 BF HW:
Software coding: 0000133
VCID: 50F98EF4F6F5FB0B3B2-5161
1 Fault Found:
17748 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) / Engine Speed Sensor (G28) P1340 - 002 Incor. Correlation - MIL ON
I will post a scan later today or tomorrow, but would like to have a few tips a few things, for what to do next/what to look for:
*) Where is the ECU physically located in this vehicle? I an to backprobe it for G28 and G40 signal (G28=J220 T121a/82 and 90, and also G40=J220 T121a 86 and finally G40 5V from terminal D15)
**) I am to remove the cylinder head cover tomorrow, with owner, and verify camshafts positions, chainlinks 16stubs, with arrows pointing to cutouts, will I be able to use a boroscope and follow chain down to the chainsprocet? The one transferring rotation from engine crankcase chain to engine cahshaft chain.
***) Can I find the signals from these two sensor in the VCDS software (using the latest 22.10 release), what is the MBV number for these two?
****) Can I activate the solenoid for intake and exhaust camshafts, and at the same time monitor the corresponding camshaft position sensor, It would affect MVB 208 and 209, or is it a dedicated MBV for intake and exhaust cam position.
Any tips before I start to fiddle more later today or tomorrow? It would be higly appreciated
Car has been ((de-)modified to std shocks, not air suspension, this has been coded. Apart from that, not much story of the car.
