Hi there Guys & Gals
As above all working now (Derek it is a desktop, not a laptop) by the way, I am really surprised how much the new TB's SSD has dropped.
Right back to the new problem.
Using my Panasonic Toughbook CF-C1 running Windows 10 together with my HEX-V2 plugged into my USB port and ignition on and then the re-assurance light blinking I double click on the VCDS icon and once loaded I press "TEST" and it pings back O.K etc. etc. then I pick an item module, then a different item module and another item module ALL of them showing can't find the module etc.
Now I'm sure you good people will be able to tell me what the problem is BUT to help you along I was thinking of providing screen grabs (not photos, no glare etc.) OR a video starting that double click for VCDS.
But here's the thing looking at the facilities above it would seem that I can't upload a video, does anybody have knowledge of a free video facility?

Which car is it? Have you tried to do Auto Scan?

On every page of the forum, in the upper part there are links to useful videos. Look, please.

Let's start with some basics.

- What is the behavior of the LEDs on the HEX-V2 when everything is plugged in?
- What are the exact results when you do [Options] -> [Test] in VCDS with everything plugged in?
- What kind of car? Make, model, year please.

Can you do a screengrab showing the "video" icon because I can't see it

Any thoughts of a website for me to use so you can see a video of my results as they are initiated ?

I have downloaded the facility BUT my phone would not let me go any further.
BUT what I can do is relate to what I am seeing on the phone.
With the dongle on the floor, it shows a blue flashing light
Once plugged into the OBD port it now turns green
Now plugged into the laptop.
Now pressing options
Now pressing test VCDS Release 22.10.0: Port Test
Port Status: OK
Interface Found!
Type: HEX-V2
Version: CB: 0.4623.4
FW: 0.256
Status: Ready
CAN: OK K1 OK K2 OK
vBat 14.12V Vign 14.13V
VINS Used: 0/3
When I pressed CAN Gateway the response that I got was "VCDS: init Controller" X No response from controller !
The only difference between today and the last time that I tried was today the engine was running.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
UPDATE UPDATE
==================================================================================
I have just had a thought instead of taking a video I will take photographs.
Can you please state what photos you would like to see?
How to get to that particular point etc. etc.
No rush because it is raining yet again

Given that you have "CAN: OK" and this is an 8P A3, I'm at a loss to explain why you're getting "No Response from controller". Can you please try a different car?

I have tried the next neighbour's car she has 64 Golf and he has a 61 Golf both cars recognised my HEX-V2
I am now going outside (it's stopped raining) with my Panasonic Toughbook CF-C1 and with the Ross-Tech User's Manual 2015 Edition.
But this time I am going to do everything by the Manual and not think this is how its done.
Every time there is a new screen I will take a photo and give it a title so you good people can skip the unwanted's and view the ones in question.
It is just coming on at 8 am so I will be back later if in the meantime anybody thinks of a screen they would like to see (and how to navigateto to there please ask the question as it will be diverted to my phone) I will not be uploading photos till I'm done

Did you check the DLC receptacle on the car ; make sure none of the pins are folded over or broken. Thanks for all the pics! Since you checked the Hex-V2 on another vehicle, and it worked fine, it seems that the issue lies with your car/plug. Especially pin 6 and 14. Although on your picture the status menu shows CAN "OK"...... (????). Worth a check anyway.

note test for pins 4 and 5 also.

Along the lines of what Bruce mentioned (I think) regarding the J533 gateway:

if it is not the wiring to the plug itself, then perhaps the CAN gateway is off line - the fuse to the CAN gateway could be blown. With no CAN gateway, communications with other modules and with a diagnostic tool may be compromised.

"Plates" don't mean anything to anyone who isn't a British Subject. What model years were these cars?

Were you able to access control modules in these cars?

Model year and year of registration are not the same thing, as those show.

I'm intrigued by the 61 plate '2013' Golf - 61 plate means first registered between 1 Sep 2011 and 29 Feb 2012 but 2013 models are not usually manufactured until around July 2012?

The only way to be sure of model year is the model year character in the VIN.
