I regularly drive a lot of miles in VA, but on I81, not on I95. Speed enforcement there is not particularly onerous. In fact, there's a couple of signs like this:

Guess what the speed limit is there?
Yep. 70.
So the sign effectively says: "If you're no doing at least the speed limit, stay in the right-most lane!"![]()
I have driven I-81 through the entire length of Virginia twice, and at least 8 more times driving most of it but cutting off onto I-77 near the SW end of the state. I love the signs that say their speed is enforced by aircraft, especially when the weather is IFR/MVFR.

Gotta get me some Winchester 50.

I-95 is the shorter and my preferred route to the south, but it is damn near impassible between Washington and the SC/GA border during the holidays. Look at the stretch between Richmond and Washington right now:
I gave I-95 one last chance in February of last year coming home from Georgia, and the traffic (about the same as above) was so bad that Google Maps routed me onto the (horrible) US-301 secondary road to save time. I'm an I-81 convert now, and will never see Pedro that SoB ever again.....
