The car runs perfectly well without the butterfly in place, it just throws error codes.
Initially when auto scanned it returned this error message:

I reported the above to the tuner who did make some unknown change to the map.
It must have made some difference because then on the second attempt, the warning light on the dash was no longer present but i got the following code in the follow up auto scan:
