Is this issue with the VCDS or the vehicle?

Haven't used my VCDS in 6 months but I told a friend I would scan his car with my VCDS mobile via the USB to my laptop. The VCDS software and possibly the laptop didn't seem to notice the VCDS unit when powers on by the car. So I went the mobile direction with my iPhone which did in fact pull up the car, but...

He thinks he has some electrical gremlins in his CC (2010?). When it tried to auto scan it showed a lot of little issues but when it did the detail scan it would not go past 4%. See attach screenshot.

Does he have issues at his cars gateway or should I tried to update the mobile and/or laptop software and try again? I can try to test on the wives Touareg this weekend but wanted to get some input off this odd experience first.

Waxing pedantic: That is a contradiction in terms. VCDS-Mobile can only work via WiFi. VCDS software can work via USB or WiFi.

Connected via USB? Trying to connect via WiFi? More details please.

Hard to say what's going on based on the screen-shot only. Did you Save that Auto-Scan? If so, please post the scan itself.

From what I can tell there is no way to save the scan when it only went to 4% and stuck there. Hence the screenshot. No time tonight test the VCDS (or mobile) on the wive's VW and mine is 60 miles away. We'll put this on hold until I can get better test data but was hoping to get some input if this is symptomatic of anything often seen.
