HI WONDERING IF ANYBODY COULD HELP ME OUT WITH MY AUDI PLEASE? IT KEEPS GOING INTO LIMP MODE UNDER ACCELERATION AND LOGGING HIGH AND LOW FUEL PRESSURE FAULTS. I HAVE CHANGED FUEL FILTER, TOOK FUEL SAMPLE, CHANGED PRESSURE REGULATOR ON RAIL, CARRIED OUT A LEAK OFF TEST ON INJECTORS. NOT SURE WHERE TO GO NEXT, ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED

Have you checked the fuel lines for kink/crashed under the car? Using VCDS take MVBS on the rail pressure and accelerator pedal positions while driving (of course you need a second person to help with scanner work for safety reasons) and see how pressure changes with regards to veh speed and post results or analyze the trend to be sure vehicle load demand is inline or not with fuel delivery etc.

Hi i have checked all fuel lines, had tank pump out and checked for restrictions, all ok. will be road testing tomorrow with vcds to get some data thanks for reply

You have high and low pressure codes, with a strange reading on the high pressure freeze data. Have you checked the Fuel Pressure Sensor and wiring?

On 176kw for some reason the valve on HPFP has gone bad many times.
Not really a way to test.

Thank you for the reply's, we have swapped the fuel rail pressure sensor and the rail pressure regulator but that makes no difference.
could the pump metering valve cause this issue?

An unregulated diesel pump makes about 1500 + bars . So as it spins and creates pressure that pressure is then regulated to whatever the ecu needs (200-300 bars for start...and it then can fluctuate between idle and wot anywhere up to 1000 -1500 bars i think. Some cars have two regulators ( one on the HPFP and one on the actual rail , more commom on coreean/japanese diesel engines ). Usually a vag will come with a frp and a pressure regulating valve mounted on the pump. IIRC i think i ve seen couple newer than 2010 which will have 2 regulating valves. It is possible if you have 2 regulators ( one on pump and another on rail ) that one would be defective/gets stuck . I ve repaired a Mercedes Benz 2012 a while ago with common diesel injection ( cdi )that had a similar problem and had also 2 regulators. I ve found rust and dirt inside one of them , the one on the ramp. After a cleaning the errors disappeared and car started functioning proper. So , take them out and check for rust , dirt , metal shavings..

hi again, i have now replace both regulators, the one on the rail and the one on the pump but the problem is still there, it seems to throw high pressure fault code first.
any more ideas?

If you have replaced the pressure regulator, you have to question if the sensor on the left rail is telling the truth BUT your car does have the trouble prone pre 11/2010 pump.

why would that throw high pressure? surely a troublesome pump would throw low pressure?
also we have checked for particles in the fuel and there is no sign.

It reads out of the chart
A high pressure pump on a diesel makes up to 1500 + bars of pressure and in hpa ( hectopascals ) that means upwards of 1500000 hectopascals. I don t know why it reads 2e+006 hpa unless something is askew there. That s why me thinks ecu sick perhaps.. On the low press fault it reads 107xxx hpa...which is about 107 bars ( which is low and even below the idle pressure ).

But don't ask me why the heck VW uses hpa as units for this when bar would be far more sensible, or why they spec'd a goofy exponential notation. Then again, there are also modules that show battery voltage in millivolts. It seems Herr Dr. Dipl. Ing. in the white lab coat who wrote the specs for this stuff has no common sense at all...?

Well , i didn t take into account that 2e+006 would mean 2000 bars , i somehow calculated that to be out of specs by far more ;). At 2000 bars would be the maximum pressure ? Also , if the OP changed the frp , the regulator and the fuel metering valve...it lets one wonder if hpfp is out of whack mechanically ( the hydraulic head part of it , the one that makes the pressure ) but then it would be regulated by the metering valve and regulator ...or is the ecu reading bananas because it s sick ? OP , are the parts genuine ? If they are , have you looked into the basic settings or adaptations tabs for something that is called " injection quantity metering valve " learning ( something or other ). I know that on the 2.0 there is such a function which would relearn the idle /load pressure points when the car is not stable at idle or under load...
