I got my RossTech finally a couple months ago, and I spent a whole day playing with it. One of the (many) changes I made was I activated the reverse as coming/leaving home (like GMs sometimes do). The only problem is, it activates the rear camera, even after the car is off! This means I have to wait until after the lights turn off, and the camera retracts, before I can open the hatch at night. I assume the camera operates independently of ignition, and only comes on when it senses reverse lights activated?

Related: is there a way to activate the camera when not in reverse, such as always on when the Parking Sensors are activated? Also, is there a way to add the turning lines with steering?

EDIT: the idea and time to make this post struck me while at work, not near my computer with the scan file. Please don't roast me too bad 😅

RVC without moving guidance lines? RVC comes on because it's activation is done via reversing lights' voltage supply. If you want to avoid this, then you probably need to retrofit the Highline RVC which has moving guidance lines, which has a different activation method - via CAN.

I see what you're saying. So the lower line camera activates via reverse lights, which is my main problem.

My second question was wondering if there's a way to activate the camera always while the parking system is activated (front and rear distance sensors). This is less important though, just a curiosity.

You reminded me of another related question, the moving guidance lines. So that's highline camera only? How do I get one of those for a Mk7 wagon? :D

Highline RVC stays activated even when moving forward, up to the deactivation speed of the parking sensors.

Moving lines are Highline RVC only. Generally you swap the camera, run Infotainment CAN and a new ignition power supply wire into the trunk lid for the camera. Then parameterize (if brand new), code and calibrate the camera.
