I have a MkV Golf 2.0 FSI (BLX engine code), car starts fine when cold but will stall when it gets hot but not when running down the highway, it happens when you are off throttle and turning a corner. I can here the elec fuel pump cycling when I turn the key on but it just seems to be starving of fuel, fuel filter replaced - fuel tank is half full, just cleaned the throttle body.
By the way does any one know how the variable intake runners work? should manifold vacuum be supplied to the diaphragm at idle or at wide open throttle?? Mine doesn't appear to be working, no vacuum supplied at idle and does not move when revving the engine.

Please post a full code read and include the VIN, run a log and save it when it cuts, select engine rpm as the main valve but also ECU voltage.

A scan isn't just about codes, it also tells how a vehicle is equipped and configured which is important to know when trying to fault find online :thanks:

Finally a fault came up, don't have a copy of the scan sorry but it appears as if I have a bad crank angle sensor (CAS), the problem at first appeared to be a fuel issue, ie- engine wanted to start but didn't seem to be getting enough fuel. As this problem only occurs when the engine is hot (operating temp) the CAS must be breaking down and not giving correct signals to the ECU. New part is on the way, I will let you know if it fixes the issue.

That would be a CKP ( crank position sensor ) ...or if it was a CMP that would be a (camshaft position sensor ). I don t know what a CAS is unless we re talking about BMW

It is then crank speed sender, also known by the SDC G28, these are notorious for failing when hot and often do not show as a fault code. We did two last week and another due in tomorrow with the same. By “we” I meant me, myself and I, due to staff taking holidays I had to do “real work” last week, broke a flamin finger nail and cut a pinky!

I feel your pain. I actually had to put on clothes, drive to the office, and pack a distributor order 2 Mondays ago! I tripped getting my shorts on, fell on the floor, rolled about, got dizzy, could not find up, and finally had to call the bride for help!

Sucks getting old and having to do shit! :D
