HI,

Local factory dealer says that it needs new dashboard. and apparently VW Germany is not supplying new ones .
The Dealer said you cannot transfer immobiliser between secondhand dashboards as VW have locked them
Can anyone supply a solution ?

Swapping a used dash into a golf mk5 is no Problem,if you have the correct tools and the knowlegde what exactly is to do.

Vcds cant do it.

Vw dealership can do this job with his odis Software also.

Yep, but you might find that the dealership doesn't want to touch used parts.

Just find someone with the correct tools and knowledge.

Thankyou for your replies
Dealer says that secondhand dash cannot be recoded due to VW software is locked on this model. Can only code in a new virgin dash which they cannot supply as VW is not supplying them any more. In New Zealand and not too many knowledgeable Techs here.
Seems like a waste of a car as it has only done 40,000k's

What your dealer says is not true.
I strongly suspect that what the dealer actually means is that they cannot do it using only official VW tools.

When they say they can't provide new clusters, then they're right - new Golf Mk5 clusters were dropped in 2019.

I can do early MK5, but I'm in Northland... about 8 hours drive north!

What model year is the car (not the rego year, the VIN year). with this info, I may be able to find someone nearer to you.

I'm struggling to think of anybody based in your area. Sutherland Performance are in Wellington, and may have the tools required?

My suggestion would be to post on the VASK facebook page, or maybe forum.

My concern is that some people know what they are doing and some may not...

You'll need the new unit Immo matched, coded and kms matched. You also need to make sure you get a compatible part number.
