Hello

Got a slight issue on a 2005 Transporter T5, and since M.O.T is coming up I need this sorted.

The problem is that the wipers starts at stage 1 speed as soon as I turn the ignition on. The interval function dose not work, stage 2 however does (wiper speeds up). Putting the wiper stalk in "off-position" does absolutely nothing.
I've noticed that if I'm turning the right blinker on everything works as normal except that if I turn the wiper stalk to stage 1 while the blinker is still blinking it'll stop. While the right blinker is on the interval works as it should with different interval lengths etc. This tells me that the "home-feedback" from the wiper motor is functioning(?). Vag-Com confirms this aswell, see pictures later. However there's a fault code on this which is odd.

I removed the T18a connector from the BCM and Wiper stage 1 is still active in both vag-com and "live". T18a contains the wires from the wiper-stalk.
I also removed the BCM from the car, opened it up to check the wiper relay, turns out it's fine. Then I powered the BCM from my bench supply and as soon as I applied power the wiper relay clicks. I tried jumping both the home-position pin and stage 1 pin without any changes. Stage 2 pin however powered the other part of the relay. (It's a relay with two coils)

Does anyone know what the heck is wrong? Am I wrong to conclude a defective BCM? (Based on the fact that it's energizing stage 1 immediately when only power is applied to the BCM?)

I took some images from measurements blocks to show you.

This image shows the state with the wiper-stalk in off-position:

Stage 1 is no different from off-position with only "Wiper-switch stage 1" activated

Stage 2:

Here you can see the wiper stage 1 is deactivated while the right blinker is activated. Wiper-stalk in off-position:

And last two images with the wiper "outside" and "inside" the park position:

BCM replaced, problem solved. :)

Bit odd tho. I mean such an odd fault to just appear on the BCM.
