Decrease speed limit to 30km/h

I´m planning to buy an interface for one main reason, I want to decrease the speed limit to 30km/h. I have been in contact with support and got the information that this should be possible and irreversible, this is both good and a little scary if something goes wrong.

Have anyone tried this and can conform that it is irreversible? One more important thing is that there isn´t any walkaround to disable the speedlimit by blocking the signal somehow (for example removing a fuse or disconnecting a sensor). If sppedlimit can be disabled I wish that car colud go into some failsafe mode and limit the RPM instead.

Please do not buy VCDS for this reason. We cannot tell you with certainty whether this is possible unless/until we see the exact details of the ECU, and even if the ECU supports such a speed limit channel, it may not allow a value that low.

IMO, you would be better off consulting with a "tuner", who can adjust the ECU firmware, and quite possibly do it in a manner that is reversible.

As Uwe indicated, we cannot be certain if this works or not. However, based on the VIN I would expect this to be a BMP engine code with 03G-906-021-NK (or similar) installed. Looking at the data available to me, I am fairly confident that you can adjust the speed limiter on that ECU with VCDS and it should go as far down as 30 km/h (and stay there permanently). That said, buying VCDS for this sole purpose may be overkill, so probably just find a fellow VCDS user in your area instead. IMO a tuner will/should most likely also use VCDS, as it's just not worth the time to adjust this in the firmware directly.

FWIW, when saying permanently we refer to normal diagnostics. There may be methods beyond the regular diagnostics as well as chip tuners who are able to reset this back to stock.

I was going to ask that very question Sebastian, that's 18.9 mph ! Perhaps the OP could just place / fabricate a manual "stop" on the wired pedal assembly (?).

It is. We had an inquiry from our Swedish distributor @annsofie about this very car as well.

I had a customer who did a similar thing with a few transporters. He then found out the cars got problems with regenerating the DPFs. I don’t remember the exact details, but I think it would be smart to investigate..
