We've had this vehicle since new. For the first 5-1/2 years we had it, I never gave the DPF a second thought because ~90% of the miles put on it were long-distance highway miles, primarily runs between SE PA and NE FL. However, at the end of 2020, a new, larger vehicle took over those duties and since then, the Touareg has been my wife's grocery getter when we're here in PA. Now it didn't have any DPF-related warnings or fault codes, but I thought it might be a good idea to give it decent highway run today, and take a look at the DPF readings before and after.

So 859 km and almost 28 hours since last regeneration. Yet the pressure across the DPF was petty reasonable at 7 hPa, and the measured soot value is quite low at under 4g. However the calculated soot value is pretty high at over 30g.

Then the trip. First three miles of surface roads, then 27 miles up the Northeast Extension of the PA Turnpike, where I turned around, and did 27 miles back (all with the ACC set to 80mph, although only about half of the 54 miles were actually at 80, some the rest were between 65 and 80 due to traffic). Lastly, about 4 miles back (which included a stop to fill the fuel tank at $6.35/gallon -- ouch).

Now 61 km and just under 43 minutes since last regeneration. She clearly did a regen the moment I got her up to speed. The differential pressure across the DPF is the same 7 hPa, but the calculated soot is way down, while the measured soot is up just a tad. The latter has me somewhat confused.

reasonable at 7 hPa
should be around 4.5 - 5 hpa no ? I get freaky for any thing over 5 hpa . It has a discrepancy however between calculated and measured soot in the first description then it came down nicely in the second one . Perhaps a new calibrated diff sensor should show different values ? Your injector rates are pretty nice , would you screenshot it and post it in my comparison thread with year and engine code please ?

Those are field shots , rapid takes with the client sitting on my head sometimes and the hell if i know how to take a screenshot of that friggin Panasonic CF D1 touch screen tablet. But i ll look into it boss :D
