Politicians tend to have always lived in a bubble and have little idea about the practicalities of life at the sharp end.

The thing that distresses me is, even though they are soldiers fighting a war which is wrong, that is the end of three young lives and probably not a quick end either.

More news: Ursula von der Sucken of EU came up with the idea to force us to reduce consumption of energy at peak hours. Even crazier news, the Romanian Ministry of Energy advises as that we should buy new fridges, wash machines, stove tops , dryers and new devices that are more energy efficient. This guy is plain stupid , people don't have enough money to pay their 300-400 euros a month energy bill and he wants us to spend thousand of euros on newer energy efficient devices. I just bought all my devices 2-3 years ago, the most energy efficient at that time...what the hell is with this guy ?

In other news , a guy somewhere in the country side of Romania drilled for a water well and he hit a natural gas vein in his back yard, now it's been burning for few days until a gas company comes to cap the well or something. Talk about some luck..though the newscaster was talking about that the gas belongs to the state...hmmm..
Great stuff, and Petrol Dave stated he is not a climate denier, as it is changing. All of us know that but is it us??. If you look at maps which I used a bunch in Vietnam the grid north is always changing. Sooo, what does that meant. If I go and use the grid from my maps made in 1967 and paste that grid into google earth, guess what, It is not even in Vietnam anymore. So if the poles are always changing, I.E. moving the equator either north or south, that is going to change the weather in any specific regions and has nothing to do with you driving and SUV, just one simple explanation. Most of this is controlled by the sun and not cars.

I live in eastern Washington a state divided by cascade mt. range. There is a place here called Gingo forest, which is desert but full of petrified rock, once a forest. What came through here when or why in the ice age, well to put it plainly long before Al Gore was driving a limousine and Obama flying around in jets. Yes we have climate change and no I don't think burning rubber tires or dirty diesels is a good thing.

As my instructor stated once that you could put your lips around the exhaust of most cars now, ( this case was a Honda) and not suffer anything more than a bad reputation. His point was that the pollution registered out of the tail pipe on a run from west coast to east coast was less than the emission from the plastic and the dash board inside.

I do this all the time on my TDI, wipe the tail pipe with a clean ex, then compare it to the neighbors gas car, they hate it.

Ursula von der Sucken, think her sister is our VP, or a close relative.

Yup, that tank crew somebody loved them, and their choice was fight over there or get executed or tortured.

Leaders of countries should all have their family on the front lines, but interestingly they don't. Even ho chi miens counter part (lays shwan forget the spelling, thats how it sounds )in Vietnam sons were schooled in Russia, never seen combat, interesting no??

Winston Churchill served in the trenches during WWI but I think he is pretty unique... unique man full stop.

Interesting what you say about Gingo forest. In Nottinghamshire we also have a forest (you may have heard of it) and Nottingham city is built on sandstone. We are right in the middle of England yet this chunk of land used to be under the sea.

That's what I think too - before the industrial revolution there are well documented reports opf a mini Ice Age and of a Middle Ages warming. SO if those major climate changes have happen before mankind was a significant generator of emissions what is the overriding evidence that this period of warming is not also a natural event. Oh and BTW analysis of samples from the age of the dinosaurs shows that CO2 levels then were in the range 750-975ppm compared to levels today of approx 400ppm.

An even more dramatic change in the magnetic poles is actually overdue, approximately every 300,000 years North and South swap according to geological analysis but the last one happened 780,000 years ago.

come on JMR is that the best you can do to support Putin buy calling people names and changing the thread to be around some ridiculous story to divert attention?

How about a bit of propaganda from the Kremlin news sources or is that getting all a bit hard to propagate as it is even blatantly ridiculous to you

Calling her von der sucken is my prerogative..i can call her whatever i want if thats how i feel about her. About changing the story..that s a no go..it s just what our energy ministry put out. Sounds ridiculous.....it is . As for the guy hitting a natural gas vein..is just idle chitchat.. I have no access to russian propaganda as it has all been blocked out by the "other side ". However...i can read here and there about how things are going.

Words have consequences. The tendency and lack of respect for each other - even by calling sb. names, is almost always a clear indicator for a lack of factual arguments. But then again, this thread has little to do with actual factual arguments but rather is just a bunch of folks in a bar, talking about stuff most here lack the complex understanding of the situation. Just because it's plausible to you or supports your opinion, doesn't mean it's actually what happens, nor that this is what is best for society.

"The bottom line is, if you have an urge, if it's so hard for you, just lift the sanctions on Nord Stream 2, which is 55 billion cubic metres of gas per year, just push the button and everything will get going," Putin said.

We won't. I'd rather freeze a bit and pay a premium on natural gas, than give in.

I have yet to see a single reason which would aid me to trust anything Putin says. He broke his own words over and over again, he broke political contracts as well as business contracts. He's a straight out liar.

Unless of course the object of the name-calling happens to be Russian. Then you'll let it slide, right?

Help me out where I did that.
How many times have people called Putin and other Russians names in this very thread and you didn't object?

I'd rather use my heat pump. 😏
With the nuclear plants being shut down, and NatGas being stupid expensive, all I can say is, "Good Luck!"

My statement above is broad enough to address both sides. JMR just happened to be the reason for me to post now. The point is made, so you can stop the typical whataboutism.

Which shows your understanding of the German energy market lacks complexity. I don't blame you for that, it is complicated and many struggle with the details. The statistics you linked is a sign of typical cherry picking, it doesn't tell you that we are a net energy exporter or when and where the energy was generated. Was this actually the energy consumed by source or generated by source? This is a classic over simplification to proof your point, yet if you look closer the argument you just made pretty much is worthless.

There are reasons why there are for example talks to split the German energy market up in 2 or 3 areas, because right now the north has plenty of Energy all year but it is actually Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg which have not participated in the renewable installation as much as needed. So they are the reason we have a huge request for transit from north to south. Now, especially Bavaria has also blocked transit lines - which now bites them in the ass as well. This is the primary reason, why we are even considering keeping 2 NPPs in reserve for the winter. Again, even this explanation is way simplified, but please don't bring up statistics like this which simply don't reflect any of those details.

You mean all those details that end up influencing wholesale prices? The current wholesale price is 363.43 EUR/MWh. Do you really think this is going to get better over the winter when all those heat pumps get turned on, not to mention all the new, portable electric heaters that have been selling like hotcakes because NatGas prices are so high?

Again, I wish to luck. I think you're going to need it, but of course much depends on just how cold the coming winter will be, and how stubborn your government is about its boycott of Russian gas.

What , i should freeze to death and pay through the nose for the sake of " democracy " in Ukraine ? There wasn t any to begin with. Let s not talk about broken political promises , they are broken all the time.
Got wood ?
I used to every morning but less and less now , must be something to do with the age :)
