Volkswagen T5 ABS coding.

Hi, I have a VW T5 with all the related ABS fault light on. I plugged in VCDS and it keeps saying both rear wheel sensors have no electrical contact and am unable to clear the fault.

I contacted a repair company and said they have had the same unit in for repair and unfortunately was not repairable.

I have bought a used replacement ABS unit identical to the one fitted.

is there a step by step guide anyone can offer me to code the new unit to the van

Not all T5s are built the same, so you need to post an Auto-Scan of your T5 so we can see how it is configured so we can advise.

VCDS auto-saves scans into the folder C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\Scans - open the text file using Notepad then select all and copy. Then start a reply in this thread, click on the </> icon on the editor tool bar and paste the scan into ther.

To post a picture you must save it to an image sharing site (I use imgur) then click on the direct image link and paste that into the reply using the Insert Image icon on the editor tool bar.

I haven't seen a "replacement" procedure for this exact ABS, but I imagine it's copy & paste the coding, then do the Basic Settings in Groups 060, 063, 066, and 069.

if you have space and you're a bit handy you can " split " the abs in 2 and just mount the ecu of the abs on your old hydraulic pump ( that way you dispense of brake bleeding, new fluid and all that headache ). However, before installing the new abs, just plug it in and do a scan, make sure the 2 errors have disappeared from scan ( plug in new/second hand abs module , turn ignition on, scan abs, clear codes, ignition off, ignition on, rescan abs, check for previous codes if are present). If still present, you have an electrical problem ( wires chaffed, broken )
Here is what i mean by splitting abs in 2 : minute 3:13 starting. The black unit is the abs ecu, you just plug it in over the old hydraulic unit present on the car.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. Sounds like a good idea I’ll try it a bit later I have all ready had that section off to check for corrosion on the plugs. All was fine whith it and also checked the wiring to the back sensors as far as I could before committing to a replacement abs unit.

is it possible to split the ABS while it's assembled in the car?
