Folks,

On our 2020 NAR Audi E-tron Premium Plus, the red LED strips in the door panels' horizontal handle trim (all 4 doors) light up red, for about 2 - 3 seconds, on car start-up AFTER all doors are closed. Then, the red LED strips extinguish. Separately, the very short vertical LED red strips in the door lock controls, just above, stay on for the duration of the trip... I guess these short red LED strips communicate that "the door is now locked" or something similar.

I would like to hear from any member who has figured out:
A). how to keep these long horizontal LED door strips lit up past their allotted 2 seconds, and
B). how to dim them while they stay lit up. BTW, the color red suits us just fine. Sonny Boy is a red-light freak when it comes to redecorating car interiors.

I'm sure this has something to do with manipulating settings in the complex multi-line LEUCHTE section in the Central Electric module... right?

Trim levels: unfortunately for controls that show up within MMI, but fortunately for us po'folks who didn't get the Prestige top-level E-Tron trim, these LED red light strips do not appear to be connected to the E-Tron Prestige ambient lighting package, from what I can tell.

The part affected seems to be (on the front driver's door) 4KE-947-133-B-3Q7. It's the long horizontal silver plastic piece with the thin LED strip down its center. Every cabin door has its counterparts.

Ross-Tech VAG-COM hack suggestions & pointers would be very welcome for tweaking this feature. A scan of our E-Tron is in the "vehicle scan bin" here somewhere.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure whether it will be there or in the door modules.

Hah! I've an Mk.7 Golf R that has blue strips in the doors that stay on and I hate them. I find blue to be annoying/distracting at night, but I think I could live with them if they were red.

This one?

The red light on the door strips is a physically separate red-only LED whose sole function is as an exit-warning light. It has a dedicated wire running to the door controller, and I'm pretty sure its controlled by the side-assist radars behind the rear bumper cover.

The other LED illuminating the same door strip is either a white-only or an RGB LED, depending on the specs of the car.

Knowing absolutely nothing about the door control modules in the car, if you can get the wiring diagrams on Erwin I would assume one could move the wire that powers the red exit warning light to the pin that would normally power the white ambient light. A quick google of the part number above shows only two wires so nothing fancy going on in that regard.

Now assuming the car doesn't have door ambient lighting there is then a matter of coding that maybe someone with ambient lighting could help figure out.

those lights are your exit warning lights for the blindspot system.

Its a dual optical strip so if you had ambiente light package there would be another led attached to the strip.

You could run new wires to light from the window switch or something so they would light up when the interior lights also turn on, but the right way would be to retrofit ambiente light and thats a pretty big job.
