Hello guys.
I'm currently in a dispute with a garage that did some engine work on my 2010 B8 S4 3.0T which seized 1500 miles after their work, despite never missing a beat the previous 87k...
My dashcam was connected when the car was delivered to their shop and it shows the owner(s) revving it and sending it (flat out!) from cold right off the trailer. That evening the dashcam was disconnected 4 minutes after their shop closing time... it remained disconnected for the 8 weeks they had my car - which was double as long as they had quoted me on time to have the job done. I believe the shop was using (ABUSING!) my car during this time...!
So, at this point I am considering going the legal route, while the dashcam is certainly incriminating (both legally and as proof of their neglect to my vehicle in their care) what I am really hoping for is extra evidence that can help determine what they got up to, how many miles exactly were put on the car, how often/what times it was started, and any other possible indicators of misuse, e.g; historic DTCs, sensors triggering a threshold e.g over-revving, temp sensors, knock sensors, or other things like timestamped launch control counter, etc, etc, etc... even if these may not be readable by VCDS I'd be happy to take it to Audi to investigate..
Does anyone know if the B8 S4 might have this kind of data stored, possibly on various different modules? I understand for instance the ABS module stores some odometer data which is what got me thinking that maybe the data I require to help my case could actually have been stored on another module buried somewhere - and what better place to ask than on the Ross-Tech forums?
Worth mentioning that I have already cleared OBD codes during attempts to get the car running again when the engine died, on the roadside. (there we no engine/drivetrain codes, only random electrical related).
Hope you can help, thanks in advance!
