Just a suggestion. Like other VAG associated forums that break their discussions down based on make/model/generation, because this specific forum in particular is a great reference point and resource for many different reasons, can it be broken down in the same way? Instead of having to be quite savvy with the search feature, it may be quite beneficial to forum members searching for a clean auto scan of a 2015 Q5 in the Audi>Q5>8R/B8.5 sub-forum. At only 10 pages long in that forum right now, would it be difficult (note: I didn’t say not time consuming) to create the sub forums and then just move them into the right category?

I'm not keen on this, since it would lump everything to do with a particular model (repairs, tweaks, and retrofits) together, unless we have a sub-tree under each model. And then we get into the fact that there's very little difference between say, a Skoda Superb and a VW Passat. So do they each get their own, or put them together?

Moreover, it's already difficult to get people to post in the right place with the limited number of sub-forums we have now.

Now I'll grant that the forum's own search facility is mediocre. I personally prefer a third-party search like this.

I hear your concern. I apologize because after reading my post it did come off a little too vague. This sub-division would not apply to the tweaks, retrofits, repair etc. sections, only to the reference scans of non-broken cars section. A lot of the time users just want to see a good unaltered scan of a particular model and this section can become a much better information repository of sorts. If two models are similar, put a link at the top of each sub-model section acting in a way that your label file redirects do. I see you put a great deal of effort yourself moving posts from one section to another to ensure the forums aren’t just one big meting pot and thank you for that, it really helps keep things cleaner. Perhaps posts to this section just sit in a pending status for one of the RT moderators to approve prior to being added. The information for this section provided by RT members is a tool for repairs, retrofits, tweaks etc. and we should be keeping THIS SECTION’S toolbox clean and organized. TLDR: The link for reference scans and maps for non-broken cars should lead to a page with links for the various brands, which lead to links for the various models, which then lead to links for the various generations of that model. The scans and maps for each vehicle provided by your members for the use of everyone are not cleanly and clearly organized for quicker searching and access.
