Sure, but at that point I have some idea that the user is responsible and knows what he's doing, rather than being someone who's just poking around with, "I wonder what this button does?" Hence I prefer this facility to remain undocumented and un-obvious, and if someone has a legitimate use for it, they must ask.

It has been used for tweaking features since the very beginning. The very first version was very popular among B5 A4/S4 owners for coding windows up/down with remote, a feature that Audi didn't trust US customers with.

What ever happened to utilizing VCDS for diagnosing and repairing (that's when you do something with a wrench/tool) your own vehicle!

In the many years I've owned VCDS I estimate I've used it in the ratio 90:10 tweaking to diagnosing on my vehicles and those of other VAG owners.

Even at that ratio it's saved me well over GBP1000 in dealer diagnostic fees and saved me hours sitting at dealers as I've fixed most of the faults myself.

ive got a 90 to 10 diagnosis to adaptations . Since i've had the HN2 it's a bit under 1000 codes cleared, 50+ codings and 280 adaptations ( on one of the laptops , the other of which i use daily indicates slightly higher numbers.) Is there a way to sync those numbers or each laptop keep it s own counter @Uwe ?

Those counters are in the interface itself. The values shown on a particular computer will be updated when you use the interface on that computer.

Did someone manage to activate APP connect, Mirrollink on the DELPHI car radio Part No SW: 3Q0 035 824 C 3Q0 035 824 C Component: MU-S--ER 722 0891 in the original if the radio is installed from the factory? Glass touch screen 5G6 919 605 A
At the request of UWE, I received a code to enter the EOL mode.
I get the code from the VIN number according to this public generator

There will be two more beeps about the initialization of the VCDS cable, I will confirm that everything will work, and finally this long code that I entered will be displayed. But when I try to press the APP button on the radio, it keeps telling me that I don't have a valid entry.
When I look in the valid codes menu, this entered code is not there.
I tried to restart the radio by pressing the power button for a long time, it restarted, but the APP function is still unavailable.
I assume that the code is not correct, I'm missing the correct VCNR data in the calculator.
How and where do I correctly read the VCNR code that is needed for the calculator with VCDS?

SWAP = Soft Ware As Product. I think this means you're supposed to pay VW for a valid code.

In my opinion, it won't even work, as far as I can tell, those who tried it either from VCDS or OBDleven, or according to the video in 1 post, already had a cracked radio.

Dealer is not able to help you. The radio does not accept SWaP without valid signature and that you cannot calculate. The radio needs to be "prepared" for the SWaP and for that you need to do some research. Delphi is the more complex one to prepare.

After applying FEc code you have to do same in Basic settings. But as @downtime wrote only FEC with correct signature are accepted by Navigation system

Have been reading this with interest, am about to purchase GENUINE document to activate Carplay/Anroid Auto and Mirrorlink on our 2017 VW Touran 2.0L SE, which I have found at arround £60.00 plus cheaper than main dealer, our vehicle has MIB2 STD - 3Q0 035 874B, with an upgrade to 8 inch screen 5G0 919 606 through VCDS in 2020.

Have also completed activation of various features with VCDS, including Retrofit of Fog Lights, will be fitting Door Lights, which I already have, to get rid of nasty plastic reflectors.

I put in a search about how to go about it when the document arrives and came across this thread , I have Genuine Ross Tech HEX V2, also OBDEleven.

If anyone can advise, it would be GREAT.

And is it sure it is for Touran? I’ve only seen activation document sold for 2017 Golf VII but not for other models.

... and sometimes doesn't work. I tried this a few years back and after paying for the activation code, it was rejected by ODIS at the dealer... money down the drain.

The information on activating CarPlay is in the public domain now if you are technical, otherwise there are many independents willing to turn it on for a fee (usually less than the dealer).

I noticed my car's CAN Gateway (address 0x19) also has that SWAP adaptation for entering FeC code, at the first glance, the one in the module 0x5F is empty and the one in 0x19 contains a long hex string. Is the one in the gateway useful for anything or is this just another (unknown) quirk of VAG cars? Maybe the code you input into 0x5F is transferred to 0x19?

No. 5F is independent unit. All the swaps for that are contained in it.
Gateway has swaps for drive mode etc.

But hacking Gateway is near not possible as this is highly secured. So this function in 0x19 is quite useless for us as nobody can generate signed SWaP in this case

^ yes exactly. Urban legend says that it’s doable but I’ve not met anyone in real life who has actually managed to add for example drive modes.
