FEC/SWaP (Enabling APPCONNECT Apple/Android) in MIB unit possible to add codes with OBD11 and ODIS but not VCDS--- WHY?

I came across a you tube video that enabled the user to activate all the missing FEC/SWaP codes in his MIB unit, like Apple car play, Mirror Link, Performance monitor etc..
All the things that the dealer would charge extra (and not that cheap) for adding the features to you car, but with OBD11 its possible to do it by yourself but not with VCDS.
There is an option missing when you go to module 5F. after entering 5F module there is an option on OBD11 which is called *Change service (doesn't exist in VCDS). There its possible to switch from Standard Diagnostic Mode to EOL (End of assembly line mode) after that Security access code 20103 > Adaptation > transfer of release codes for swap function then edit and paste in a generated code for enabling all the missing features.

Can something be done to add this option to VCDS so that we also have the option to add these features without having to go to a dealer to activate them

You can really screw up a car with random mode changes. Hence I prefer not to "publish" the instructions for this. However, if someone has a specific need, we will provide them to registered users on a case-by-case basis.

Now the OP must be mixing things a bit. In the video the person is activating mirrorlink FeC which he BOUGHT and is only available for certain models at certain model year. There is no way to install FeCs like performance monitor etc because those are not available.
Only thing he shows is how the FeC can be activated without going to the dealer. But even dealer is not able to activate it for you without the activation document that you need to buy. And which is only available for Mirrorlink and for certain model year and car models only.

Hacking the unit is the only way to get the other stuff and even doing that there's no guarantee that for example performance monitor works.

You shoud first know that THIS radio was unlocked.
so if you have solution for unlock , you can also enable all function durring unlock

I have same question. In VCDS is option to transfer code to install app (if I'm not wrong). But it is not possible to use it, field is not active. Only because of this function I buy other tool and without problems transfer code to my radio and install, what was needed. I have HEX-CAN. Will this possible with latest cables?

First, I acknowledge the difficulty of writing posts on this forum when English is not your native language (I shudder to think of the mess that I would make - should I participate on a Czech language forum)

Anyhow, I'm guessing that @swenak is asking about the hex5F channel IDE04331-Selection of release codes for a SWaP function - which is reported in the other device as "Transfer of release codes for a SWaP function" (see ~2:30 minutes on video)

Now, I'm not familiar with the VCDS method of accessing End-of-assembly-line mode (I use the other device for this purpose) - but I assume that when viewed in this mode, VCDS reports this channel as per @golfi_vend post below (which is a sequential list of the authorization codes for the currently installed apps in the module):

So, to paraphrase @swenak question - I'm guessing he/she? is asking; why does VCDS report the channel - but then doesn't allow the user to access it's contents?

Of course the answer is that regardless of who manufactures the diagnostic cable/dongle - what is reported by the device is what the module allows to be reported and access to channels is an entirely different matter; in this case, access appears to be device specific - or more accurately, it appears to be "user specific" for VCDS (depending on how Ross-Tech makes the decision to disclose the access instructions)

That was my mistake, sorry, wrong memory. I was talking about basic settings, "IDE04327-Activation on Swap", but that field is not for entering code, that was "that field". But, as @DV52 wrote, main problem is, that it is no possible and if it is bacause of IDE04327, or because of IDE04331, or other function is irrelevant. I must unlock it by ODIS clone (I bricked my radio while upgrade fom 2xx to 4xx firmware, so must unlock it after reflash). As I know, with obdeleven (that i not professional tool at this time) it is possible too. VCP can it too.

About IDE04331 - I mean, that this is for opening "possibility to transferring codes". This is not for entering that long installing code. If I remember, default is 00000000 and must be changed to FFFFFFFF before I can sending by other adaptation channel that long code.

I have invested in HEX V2 so the S/N on my account is wrong (was old MicroCAN), mmm actually I see it has changed (was showing my old cable yesterday).

Can it be done with HEXV2?

Most likely can. Light parameter field in BCM and also DWA interior monitor parameter set are writable with hex v2 and those are as long fields as the SWaP field.

I think its just a small fix and RT can integrate this option in VCDS in one of the next release
