Hey everyone, I've had a couple VAG vehicles and work on my own stuff but have no experience with vcds. I was trying to do some data logging to figure out a boost issue on my c5 Allroad and I have no grouping button or turbo button for faster sampling. I'm using a hex v2 Dual-k & CAN USB interface with windows 10. The car is a 2003 Allroad 2.7t 01e transmission. I start by connecting the laptop and car with cable, switch key to on position, open vcds, select control module, engine, advanced measure blocks, and then pick a few blocks. the sample rate is super low 2-3 and there's no group selections button. Hopefully I'm just missing something simple. If anyone has any suggestions it would be much appreciated.

Yeah, you definitely can't "group" them since that ECU certainly doesn't use the newer UDS protocol. In fact, I'm pretty confident it doesn't even use KWP-2000; that it runs the very old-school KW1281, a protocol that was first used in the early 1990s and doesn't lend itself to the "Turbo" performance tweaks. The problem with KW1281 protocol is that each and every byte that the ECU sends must be acknowledged by the scan tool before the ECU will send the next one, and there's no mechanism to increase the bit rate either.

You may be able to get a little more buy tweaking things on the Options screen, but it won't be much:

Yeah my protocol reads kw1281, thanks for the responses! I did a few log sessions and it seems to make some sense even with the slower sample rate. I found groups of blocks when scrolling through the selections and if I pick blocks within the group it keeps the sample rate from dropping from 2.5 to ~1

In the interest of full disclosure, (from a User perspective only) your Auto-scan may help other readers/users on the RT forum OR , from what I understand, may help RT in advancing product development. So, thank you for your contribution! "happy scans" !

Hey, it could be worse. Some of the very first TDIs that used KW1281 did so at 240 bps. No, that's not a typo. Two Hundred Forty.

And there are transmissions that were still used in the early 2000s that ran at 1200 bps.

Yes, some C4 ecu's are that slow that Hex-v2 can't connect them.
