What I am not sure about is the displayed knock sensor values, should they be reading zero if system was working ok? Also the rail pressure reads 5610kpa which is about 56.1 bar at idling. Torque restriction fault came up after clearing same fault. Could it be that HP pump drive is affecting fuel pressure delivery at certain times causing cylinder selective knock controls and subsequent EPC light on?
Any ideas would be appreciated folks.

Some new discoveries: please see the readings below, I am wondering what will make the low fuel pressure go up to more than twice the specified value? I took reading while engine was idling and all other loads such as AC turned off. Same faults keep reoccurring when i clear them.

Check the documentation for your particular engine to see if it actually has a low-pressure sensor.

No, the low pressure "actual" IDE00186 does not change nor fluctuate regardless engine RPM it stays at 11.003. but the "specified" value changes. Physically I do not see any low pressure sensor on the fuel low pressure line. I checked with dealer parts etka and they did not see any low pressure sensor as a part for the car.
Now I did few additional tests, what i dont seem to understand is that as I increase the RPM, the HP fuel "actual value" IDE00188 drops to about 37.4 bar and then the knock sensor value also jumps to a little over 0.5V during engine warm up phase.
Could this be sudden rail pressure drop during increased RPM thats triggering knock sensor action? See fresh readings taken:

Yeah, I think so, particularly if it causes the mixture to lean out, which I suppose it would. Lean mixtures are more knock-prone.

Ys the drop creates a significant difference in pressure of about 12.6 bar less while increasing RPM..are there known issues with the excessive worn out cam/camshaft drive on these HP pumps, you know or i could just throw in just a new HP pump and re evaluate system reading again? would this make sense??

I replaced the high pressure pump and too new MVBs readings. Car has been driving fine with no more EPC/power issues for over a week-problem solved. I am indeed happy about the VCDS diagnosis procedures available and the readings I specifically tested and compared actuals with specifications; this helped me to gain a fix right first time principle which most shops struggle to achieve and possibly the dealer too on such complicated German technologies. It also helped me to understand the influence of low pressure pump output on knock sensor function and cylinder selective knock control practically.

coming back to this same car, I need to adapt a key. After battery replacement the remote key does not unlock car but starts car ok..i havent done this kinda work in years and dont know what has changed in the adaptation sequence. Any procedure about how to adapt this key?

I had a car in the shop this week with a similar problem. 2014 Chattanooga Passat 1.8tsi Auto trans. Customer complained of intermittent power problems, such as when the cruise is activated and the car has to pull a hill. The engine would pull the hill normally, then act like it was starved for fuel, come back and do it again until the hill was behind. The EPC light would come on. Same would happen if you tried to accelerate from 0 to 80 at full throttle. Lots of these specific engine codes (see the scan) are present when a 1.8tsi is extremely low on oil. I checked the oil and it took 4.5 quarts to bring to proper level on the stick. Test drove again and the oil pressure switch code would return and the engine would still lose power intermittently under load. The other code would also return concerning torque restriction due to fuel pressure. I put several channels on VCDS scope view, such as high pressure fuel actual vs specified, low pressure fuel actual vs specified, and charge pressure actual vs specified and test drove. The only thing of note was that the high pressure fuel specified and actual would drop precipitously during the loss of power. This indicated that the ECM was reacting to something, rather than a mechanical failure of the high pressure fuel pump.

I decided to replace the oil pressure switches first, since that was the cheapest thing on the list that needed doing. I found that the blue low pressure switch was leaking internally into the wire without any apparent leakage on the connector. I have been warned by my ECM programmer in TX that the oil can be pushed all the way through the wire to the ECM and cause serious damage. It had not made it to the ECM in this case. I replaced both oil pressure switches and reset codes and test drove. I could not get the engine to malfunction or set a code again, no matter how hard I drove it. Apparently, the oil pressure switch replacement solved the problem on this car.

I'm wondering if the ECM gets an indication that the oil pressure isn't right, if that would cause the ECM to restrict torque in this way. It's looking that way to me.

Also, concerning this 1.8tsi engine, we see several of these each year where they're being driven around without oil. These engines don't seem to illuminate the oil pressure light, or even start rattling from air being pumped into the lifters. It's baffling. I haven't seen any major problems yet from these oil burners, like knocking or any of the other things a mechanic would expect. You simply put oil back in and it just keeps burning oil. Maybe we just caught them before anything really bad happened. I'm working on a treatment to de-carbon the piston rings without disassembly. I'll post on this forum when we can confirm it works.
