Powertrain Databus.

Ran VCDS after not getting communication with it. Runs and will drive in 1st but no chimes and other things inside. Cluster isn't lit up. I change fuel filter turned it on had had multiple codes on the cluster. So, I disconnected the battery to reset the codes. After I reconnected I had no cluster and car went into safe mode. After the scan. These are the codes. Seems all bit 3 go to Powertrain Databus.
How bad am I going to get broke off for the fix?

Yes, those are the only ones. I didn't know if it were something my Vw mechanic may be able to do.

Looks like a power problem to me (fuses and/or relays), I'd suggest getting a wiring diagram and seeing how power gets to the modules that cannot be communicated with.

Ok, via club Touareg post, I read about factory vw spliced wires in the foot well. Found those (corroded and broken) re-spliced with wtr proof butt connectors. This fixed my safe mode in trans allowing me to shift like norma and seems to have brought back the 4x4 controls. I have checked all fuses on left & right boxes (all good) I then went to the relay box on the driver's side and checked all connections that should have constant and Intermittent power via ignition switch, all have power. I am going to check all connections at ECM. I am still getting no cluster. I feel like what ever this last issue is, that it's probably a small one but will be the hardest to find. Any other help on the cluster would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I had power to the cluster which showed up 3 lights 1 abs 1 esp and 1 other I can't remember. I am hoping to take a pic if I can get it back. Cluster worked for those 2 lights but not coming back on again. May need a system clear again.

I will as soon as I get one. Rt now it went from running, to power but not turning over. Battery was only pulling 12.7-8. Needs to be up around 13.4 or so I think. It's on charge for now. Battery is dated 1/15 so I'm sure it probably needs one despite it holding charge

Well, we tried to scan it again and VCDS got absolutely nothing. Didn't recognize anything at all. Have power to all fuses and relays (that I know of within engine bay. All fuses in side are good, the ones that take the power on all light up my checker on both sides. Couldn't even do a reset. For sure a damn Reg gremlin. I'm at a loss. If I have power coming to the relays could the relay it still be bad? What do you guys think? It was running. Turned it off, hit the lock button 2 times and I got 1 chirp (1st I've herd any chime or bell since this started.) Because I finally got it shifting, I decided to go around the block to make sure it shifted. Hit the ignition and nothing, not even a click. I was moving forward and now what seems like 24 steps back.

Have you got a wiring diagram yet? It sounds like there is power not getting through (many cars have large 100A+ 'mega fuses') and/or a faulty modules not enabling relays to turn on.

I am getting power to all fuses and relays that are left, rt, under seat, and engine bay. I'm going to start replacing the relays and something I real was to take out the Kessey fuse. Don't know what that will do other than not work steering colum. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again for the help, it's greatly appreciated.

Anyone else have any ideas other than earths, wet wiring, etc would be appreciated.

Well Boonie, I have yet to find a solution. I know that my fuses are all good and all powered. My biggest issue now is my cluster which I know works. For now until I can afford to take it to VW dealer, I run a android speed app DigiHud. Just keep up with gas milage. Oh yea, no Ac, blower, steering controls. Seems to just be everything that isn't a real necessity doesn't work. For now, I have said the heck with it and drive. I'll figure it out at some point. For now, driving it until the wheels fall off

I want to laugh at your candidness but at least you are mobile. I will say though mate, I was mobile like you with those issues... until I wasn't

Now I can't get power to my ECMs. Trying to trace the wiring back as there is no power at the (30A)ECM fuses at any point of the starting cycle. All relays are ok.
Anyway mate I will update you as I go if you like just incase something happens to yours!
