What kind of car is this? I would guess that your car probably does not use CAN for diagnostics.

And yet when I access CAN from main menu it's there and reading. Is this different from the "Test" CAN?

Yes, tat car has a (virtual) module in the Instrument Cluster called the "CAN Gateway" that you can talk to, but you talk to it via K-Line.

Lots of VAG products between MY 2000 and roughly 2006 used CAN for internal communications between control modules, and had a "CAN Gateway", but did not support CAN for external diagnostic communication.

FWIW, the very first car in the NAR market that supported CAN for diagnostic communications was the 2004 D3/4E A8. This was followed by the 2005 C6/4F A6, and then in 2006 it became rather common.
