Hey

I have some problems retrofitting Cruise Control in my Audi A3 8p.

I have installed the new stalk 8P0 953 513 D.

I then coded first the steering wheel electronics:

1. 16 - Steering Wheel
2. 07 - Coding
3. Changed my coding from 0000012 to 0000042

Since i went from board computer without Cruise Control to now having Cruise Control

Options
0 = no Board Computer, no Cruise Control
1 = Board Computer, no Cruise Control
2 = no Board Computer, Cruise Control
4 = Board Computer, Cruise Control

I then went to code the engine control. My "Coding II" was greyed out, and after some research i found that i should use "Long Coding" for mine instead. cf. http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/2.0l_TFSI_(AXX/BGB/BPJ/BPY/BWA)#Coding

So i went into the long coding helper, scrolled to bit 6, and checked off "Cruise Control installed"

But my cruise control still doesn't work, and now i have a fault code on 16 - Steering wheel saying Incorrectly Coded

Is it possible that i need to open 16 - Security Acces with a code in 01 - Engine, to acces "Coding II" and then code it as normal by using the password 11463.

Hi and welcome.

In the future, please don't run your scans trough a translator. Instead, please use the standard English version of VCDS, which will will happily coexist on your computer with the Danish translation you are currently using.

Many Audis of that era required an extra wire to be run between the steering column module and the ECU when cruise control was being retrofit. I'm not certain this is the case in your car, but if it is, it would explain why the steering column module complains that it is incorrectly coded after you coded it for cruise.

Ah, i didn't know the 2 versions could coexist, so i just had the Danish version for my own convenience, but thank you for the advice i will do that in the future.

I've done some research on the wire you're talking about, and it looks like it goes to pin 13 on the main plug on the ECU and pin 4 on a blue connector under the dash. So i will try that.

I have checked me main connector on the ECU, and i already had a grey/black wire in pin 13. Is my wire not already there then?

Try to change zero values in wsc, importer, device no., like explained here before do coding.
Then maybe try coding for 0000022 [16]

When i originally changed to the cruise control stalk, VCDS made me change the WSC-values on the new stalk. They should therefore already be changed.
My steering column module had a dealer number, but the other values, (importer no. and device no.) were zeros, and I therefore changed them to 123, but no results.

I also tried changing the coding from 0000042 [16] to 0000022 [16], but with no results other than my switch for the Board Computer didn't work.

I think your 01 and 16 coding values were correct. Providing the info on this page is correct the 16 module should support CCS.

I believe the 8P0 953 513 D stalk you installed is correct as well but check measuring block groups in:

Address 16
004,0,Cruise Control System​
004,1,Main Switch, (not installed/off/on)​
004,2,CCS-Set, (not operated/decelerate/accelerate/reset)​

If you do not see switching in 16 there may be a problem with the stalk or connection to it. In that case I would NOT expect to see data in 01.

P.S. In regards to that GRA / CCS wire the diagram shows it at T20b/13 (black/white stripe) at J527 (Address 16) and T94/18 at J220 (Address 01). I did not see a connector in-between in the diagram but you may want to make sure that wire is present at both control modules on those terminals if the MVB results show CCS data in 16 but not in 01.

I have just been out trying to look at the MVB, but my laptop ran out of power so I'll check again in a minute.

But I could read values for ON/OFF, Deaccelerate, Accelerate and Cancel (Address 16, 004).

When I went to check the electronic throttle (Address 01, 066) I could see it changing in the ON/OFF-position, but I didn't get to read the exact values before my laptop ran out of power.

Although I couldn't see any changes other than the ON/OFF in this module (Address 01, 066)

I have been out trying again.

In the (Address 01,066) I can get It to show values for ON/OFF, Decelerate, Accelerate and Cancel. But i couldn't seem to get it to show any values from Resume or the SET-button. But the Decelerate and Accelerate only worked if i had moved it to resume, after having put it in OFF-pos.

I have uploaded the MVB values under here.

I couldn't get It to make changes to the values when pressing "SET"-button and pressing "Resume"-button.

Also wasn't able to get it to react on "Decelerate", "Accelerate" and "Cancel", when i went straight from "OFF"-position to "ON"-position.

It had to be moved into "Resume" (Where i didn't get any response), and then i could use "Decelerate", "Accelerate" and "Cancel".

Also it starts and ends in "OFF"-position. There is a few "OFF" in the beginning, but i just had to figure out how to use the "Add to log"-function correctly.
