I purchased a Golf Mk 8 at auction - Stolen / recovered.
The car is immaculate, the only fault was the infotainment system would just say 'loading' and nothing else. The car drove perfectly too.
I carried out an autoscan which revealed 'no communication 16777018 - Control unit for information electronics 1'
The SOS button in the ceiling had also been unplugged, I guess the thief didn't want to be tracked via GPS??
Anyway, I took the dashboard apart and removed the instrument cluster to discover that the infotainment control unit was entirely missing! (it's located behind the instrument cluster) The wires were left hanging behind the dashboard.
No idea why they would want to steal that?!
My question is this! If I purchase a second hand Golf Mk8 control module from the same spec vehicle, will it be a simple plug and play? Or is this thing going to need to be coded? Please don't say its main dealer only!
