hi
i have had my vcds cable for a few months now. i have done a few scans and resets for myself and friends and found the tool really good to use. i have found this forum useful with lots of info available.
a few days ago i did a fullservice on my audi 1.8tfsi tt. the vehicle was on flexible servicing but because we do less than 5000 miles a year in it i wanted the service schedule changing to fixed servicing.
the oil service indicator indicates a service is due and the inspection service shows it is due in about a year.
i performed the sri reset,
i selected the 'change to fixed servicing great britain', from the drop down menu
'the new values have been saved successfully, sri reset complete ' message appeared
i exited the vcds and disconnected everything and turned ignition off.
when i turn ignition on service due message is still there and when i connect vcds again all the old values are still there.
i have attached the log file for before and after the reset
hope someone can help me reset
thanks

That channel needs a zero on it. I see nothing that indicates that the actual Service Reset was ever done. Selecting and performing a "Change to..." job does not do a reset . The fact that you still have 2900 km and 365 days since service corroborates it.

"Service Reset" (or something worded very similarly) should be the first job in the pull-down menu of jobs. Select it, then click [Perform SRI].

hi uwe
thanks for your reply
i reset as you suggested from the drop down list 'flexible oil service reset(longlife/great britain/ gasoline)
this has cleared the service due warning on the dash and new values are in the log file, which i have attached
if i now change in the drop down sri menu to 'change to fixed intervals (great britain) will i get a service due message in 365 days for oil and inspection service in 730 days?
thanks

Why would you do a "Flexible" reset when you want fixed intervals?

Please try "Change to fixed Intervals (Great Britain)" followed by "Fixed Oil Service Reset (Great Britain)"

hi uwe
i did a flexible reset because i thought that was the service regime the vehicle was on and i had nothing to compare it to.
i have carried out both reset procedures as requested.
the log file is below. could you tell me why the time since inspection service still shows 366 days. i thought this would now read 0.
i thought that once reset to fixed intervals it would be oil service reset after 365 days and 730 days for inspection service.
realise i have lots to learn
thanks again for your help

Have you done the work that's supposed to be done every two years for the time-based inspection? It's not due for roughly a year. When you do that work, you can selected the job named "Time based Service Reset (Rest of World & Great Britain)".

i thought that once reset to fixed intervals it would be oil service reset after 365 days and 730 days for inspection service.
Nope, there are three independent things happened here. The Oil Service Reset that can be flexible or fixed, which you have now reset. But there's also a time-based inspection that we've already discussed (which is supposed to be done every two years regardless of the mileage). And third, there's a mileage based inspection service that's supposed to be done every 32,000 km (20,000 miles) regardless when other services are due. This is a horrible, nasty, over-complicated scheme that could only have been perpetrated on the world by someone with title "Dr. Dipl. Ing." But I digress. What you have to understand is that any three of those things can make your car turn on the Service Reminder in the instruments, and you then have to look at a whole bunch of channels to see what the car actually wants.

If channel 2 is not zero, then it wants an oil-service. The details of why (type of intervals it's on and the soot or thermal load calculations that influence flexible intervals) are in channels 40-49.

If channel 53 exceeds channel 52, it wants a mileage based service.

If channel 55 exceeds channel 54, it wants a distance based service.

hi uwe
the service schedule is a little out of sync because the car was purchased from audi a year ago and received a service at that time which is why its still showing a year left before the time based service. i have completed the required work with genuine audi parts. i dont feel there is any point just resetting service indicators if the work hasn't been done.
thanks for taking the time in explaining how it works
really appreciate the help
