Dynamic environmental data - what is it?

As the title implies, I'm trying to understand the part of the DTC detail information that's labelled "Dynamic environmental data".

The entry sometimes appears in the list of other fault event measurements and its value seems to be a string of hexadecimal numbers - but with a variable Byte count (I think) .

Here's some examples taken from random auto-scans that have been posted on the forum:
  • Dynamic environmental data: 20 96
  • Dynamic environmental data: 0000001812000000AB000000000000F702430D01010010
  • Dynamic environmental data: 02 8D
Does anyone know what this entry is attempting to display and how to interpret the Byte values? For example, is it a historic list of readiness Bits - maybe?

hahaha.... yes I do tend to gravitate to MQB cars - but Dynamic environmental data is not peculiar to this platform type. From the little that I can glean (which ain't much), the DTC entry might be something that's defined by an OBD standard -perhaps (but this is a wild guess at best).

The DTC entry also seems to be module non-specific; it appears across ALL modules (I think)

Here's examples from auto-scans that have been posted on the forum which contain the curious entry (ain't nothing special about these- just selected at random)

Does ODIS provide any decipherment for this?

Because if it doesn't, I'm not sure how anyone is supposed to figure out what it means. ;)

It does not. I think it's something the module manufacturer puts in there when there isn't a readily available formula for it, and they feel only they would ever need to decode it.

These are not good examples, they are not made with VCDS.
If they where made with VCDS, I would think, the extra freeze frame data where showed, like this random example:

@NEtech: Brilliant - thanks for the insight! Yes, you could be correct that Byte 0 -1 is some kind of module address identifier.

However, why it takes 2 x Bytes (i.e. 65,536 different states) for this purpose is more than a tad strange! And, the 2 x different entries for hex13 module in your post suggests that something more is happening in these 2 x Bytes.

So, if I could press you further and just to be clear - are you suggesting that "other", non-VCDS devices report different (i.e. larger Byte-count) values for Dynamic environmental data entry?

I don't know what other tester show or not show, but the 2 examples you showed, seems to come from this thread.
And from the text, it is from obdeleven.
Do you have any VCDS Autoscan where similair "Dynamic environmental data" is showed ?
