I am using the VCDS mobile app (and HEX-NET) on my Android (Pixel) in ad-hoc mode (access point). After I run a scan it then saves the txt file to a log folder that I am assuming is on the VCDS-Cloud.com server. My questions are;

Am I correct on these assumptions?
How many scan files can be stored on the server?
How can I clear the files that I have stored on the Cloud server?

As a note - My HEX-NET device works great!

Moving to HEX-NET support.

Scans are stored on the HEX-NET itself, and can be uploaded to the cloud. To access the files stored on your HEX-NET, click [View Saved Files] from the main menu. In that list, there is a column that shows you which files have been synched to the cloud. If a file has not been synched to the cloud, you can do so manually using the Options for that file.

I'm not aware of any limit to the number of files you can store on the cloud, and HEX-NET itself has enough on-board storage that I think you'd be hard pressed to ever even come close to filling it.

There's no way for users to delete files from the cloud at the present time.

Help me understand…..

Example#1 – if I come back from a location in which I used my android phone (connecting in ad-hoc mode) with no internet/cell tower connection to my phone. Do I just connect the HEX-NET to a PC when I get home (or wherever) and start the phone VCDS app to upload a saved file from the HEX-NET to the cloud server?

Example#2 - or let's say I have the same scenario but I had an internet cell tower connection on my phone. When I hit save after the autoscan - I thought it went by default to the cloud server.

I HAVE DONE THESE SCANS SEVERAL TIMES AND WHEN GO TO THE CLOUD SERVER I DONT SEE MY FILES.

Am I missing something here?

Thx

The files will upload automatically in the background when the interface is running and has an internet connection. However, if you are using this ad-hoc, it will not have an outside internet connection. So, you can connect it to your network back home and then manually sync files from the [View Saved Files] screen in VCDS-Mobile, or you can leave it connected at home and it should sync automatically eventually. A PC connection is not required, and it can't upload logs through the PC. You need to have the interface connected to your home network where it has internet access.

Ok - I got that piece, Thx. Here is what I did to follow up.

I connected the HEX-NET (infrastructure mode - GREEN) to my Desktop. Started my phone app and saw 4 log files with a RED X next to them. I tried uploading a file because I could see it is not automatic. It stayed in uploading mode forever. It never completed. I also tried the email drop-down feature that did not work.

Do I need to reset the Hex-NET device somehow for these 2 features to work?

FYI - the HEX-NET has the latest firmware as of 4 days ago. My phone is a Pixel 5 with the latest patches etc... and the latest OS fixes.

You probably need to just leave it uploading for longer. It can take a while to do the sync, especially if it is a relatively big log.
If you do [Options] - > [Network test] what does it show?

I know this sounds stupid. But I am assuming I did or I couldn't load to the cloud server - Right?

When I am logged in to the cloud server and select a file to email - here is what I get. I am using Chrome Version 89.0.4389.114 (Official Build) (64-bit).

I don't think the email function is widely supported anymore since most browsers started disabling mailto links.
But if I understand you correctly, you can see files listed when you log into the cloud server then?

Yes, when I log in I see files under my username. Should there not be files there? I was told this morning that the files will remain there until ethernity.

Most of my scan files from Hex-Net are under 50 kB. A text file size like that with my connection should upload in a flash.

Those should all be logs that you've made, that have synced to the cloud.

The HEX-NET is a lot slower at doing certain things than a computer you might be comparing it with. But the upload shouldn't take more than a minute or two.
