Good evening all,

I have a 2017 T6 and the radio has stopped working. The screen is blank, nothing seems to operate. I've tried holding power for 10 seconds but nothing. There are no codes stored, so I'm at a loss.
Anyone have any advice?

Cheers

No mate, checked fuses and supply to unit. I don't have a wiring diagram but there's feed into the unit on a larger cable in quadlock.

@Justin: Ok -so, I'm just surmising but pure logic suggests that because there are no DTC s ( I assme this is what's meant by "there are no codes stored"), the hex5F module in the vehicle is happy for the current arrangement to persist (i.e. a blank screen).

I'm not sure if it's the same, but some time ago I had a MQB platform car visit here with the very same symptoms (i.e. no MIB screen and no DTCs). After much head-scratching and even more failed attempts at fault-finding, I finally tracked-down the cause of the problem, which was missing software on the MIB.

As eventually admitted by the car owner (I wish he had told me earlier), he had changed the hex5F software switches on Byte 18 on the long-code string. These switches have the descriptor "screenings", but they determine the screen version that the MIB selects at start-up. The car owner had changed the factory setting on Byte 18 because he wanted the MIB to show a different model version. However, whilst the coding change was accepted, I found-out (deduced, really) that the option chosen wasn't programmed into the module firmware. This resulted in the MIB failing to load any GUI version at start-up which meant a blank screen!! To my surprise, the MIB was quite happy to remain in this state and no DTCs were present on the scan report

So, notwithstanding no DTCs, given the absence of an obvious cause and the lack of any diagnostic detail about the problem (other than the quad-lock has volts), it might be worthwhile to post a copy of an auto-scan for the car. At least then we can see how the vehicle is equipped -and how the MIB is coded - which might result in further insights maybe.

Thank you DV52,

Here is a copy of the scan which I ran yesterday. It has been fully functioning up until Wednesday without any coding intervention from me.

Hi Don,

Thank you for your reply. I've added a scan result to my post. See what you make of it, I can't see anything obvious.

Cheers

@Justin0: I've compared your long-code string with a similar module HERE (the other module doesn't have DAB) - nothing jumps-out!!
And the Byte 18 value on your unit is OK. Clearly the infotainment system is talking to the CAN network (no DTCs). Does the module sound obstacles when backing?

I note that the vehicle has only travelled 38.5K kms - so still under warranty. Not sure if this is a known problem on T6 - but worth a chat with dealer (I think)

Hi,

Yeah the park sensors work acoustically only with nothing on dash. The warranty ran out in November so I doubt they will help. I'm in conversations with an electronic repairer to check what's wrong. I couldn't see anything obvious in the scan, but you have far more experience with the VCDS operations etc.
Thank you for your assistance so far, I'll let you know how I get on.

Cheers

@Justin0: I hope that the problem can be found - but notwithstanding your "electronic repairer", this very-odd fault might be a known problem for the T6. Regardless of the warranty status, it might still be worth a chat with a dealer (I suggest) to confirm that there is no residual warranty liability by VW

1) did radio can be turn On from knob when engine is running or when ign is off ?
2) did someone did some coding changes , and after that is "dead" ?
3) did radio illuminate separate , or illuminate with dasch buttons ?
4) when you do diagnostic - you see single knock in speakers ?

None of the buttons do anything at all, screen blank and no input to MID?
The only coding done was adding fader for rear speaker addition but that was months ago.
