Highline BCM in Startline caddy, 2017

Hi all..got myself a 2017 Startline Caddy just before xmas, I've had GTi bumper put on and would like to utilise the foglamps as DRLs. I wanted to do it properly and not just hijack a feed from the current DRL's so set out on a voyage of discovery, bought the service manual, found the Fog lamp feeds on the BCM, wired up a quick test circuit in the footwell and..nothing. Scratched my head for a while then snapped a pic of the pins on the BCM, and of course the Fog feeds were absent. I snapped up a new Highline BMC, PN:5K0937087AC and have reviewed a few guides on swapping them, non specific to mine however, so to cut a long story short, does anyone know definitively whether the new one will have Component Protection? I've had mixed feedback from various sources.

I've upgraded the original MFSW to one with ACC controls with a view to getting that working, but after some research that seems a tougher nut to crack than Foglights so I'll save that for another day

I'll have a crack at it tomorrow. Worse case scenario and CP is triggered, would reverting back to my current BCM resolve any issues, or would it still throw a wobbler?

@Niq-o: As @langers2k says - No CP.

CP works like this: the CP master module (not sure which module this is on a caddy) will trigger CP error just after the ignition switch-on cycle if the identity of the BCM is different to the identity of the module at the previous ignition cycle when there was no CP error. So the CP master module is looking for BCM details that previously passed the CP test.

If you remove the existing BCM and then re-install the same BCM - the identity of the module will have exactly the correct details that the CP master module has recorded in its database - result=no CP error (and no "wobbler")!!

on caddy, passat cc, tiguan pq35 etc... cp master module is cluster, cp constellation is cluster, gateway and 5f maybe ecu but im not sure about ecu
there is no cp on bcm

Just to point out, your BCM byte 18 is currently 00 - assuming I can count...

Unless the new BCM also came from a similar Caddy, you'll probably have issues with the lighting configuration

OK, so new BCM is in. Obviously a long list of things to work through, my initial problem is getting the keyfobs to pair. Followed the guides, but not getting the confirmation from the indicators, the van starts and operates fine, just no remote action

Just took the keys from the ignition and they're both working fine

Well that was a mostly successful endeavour.. quick test of the foglamps proved successful, just need the correct terminals for the 52pin plug and I'll wire those in.

cpl issues though (of course)..

main one being the headunit isn't powering down with the ignition off, more so the remote wire is staying hot keeping the amplifier on too.

and I'm getting a bulb error for the reverse lamp.. guessing due to it being LED, or maybe something to do with what Langers2k pointed out?
