I've read the Wiki pages so i basically understand roughly what the fault codes relate to. But, don't quite understand why they're showing as i don't notice any issues relating to them, other than the central locking issues.

My MAIN ISSUES are with the central locking. The driver's door and passenger door behind it aren't working properly, but even the other three doors have given me problems. When i lock the doors with the fob, they all lock (usually) except the one behind driver's seat. Then when i go to unlock doors, the driver's door always needs the key to be inserted to unlock it.

Hence these codes:

- 01552 - Motor for Central Locking; Drivers Door (V56); Lock 012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit - Intermittent
- 00096 - Drivers Door Central Locking (Safe) Motor (V161) 012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit
- 00928 - Locking Module for Central Locking; Front Driver Side (F220) 008 - Implausible Signal
- 00097 - Front Passengers Central Locking (Safe) Motor (V162) 012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit

As for the other codes, some of the faults i recognise but they've been sorted. Does VCDS also pick up faults that have been fixed?

For example, 00906 - Horn (H1) 009 - Open or Short to Ground - Intermittent: I had an issue with my car a few months ago and took it to be diagnosed by garage and one issue was the horn not working. It works fine now. So, not sure why it says it's a 'fault priority 2'.

Also, when i bought the car last summer, it had an issue with the air conditioning (only worked in highest speed and no cold air). I had to replace the fan resistor and garage filled up the gas. So that might explain the 01320 - Control Module for Climatronic (J255) fault code?

The following 3 issues i have no idea about:

- 00834 - Signal for Activation of Heated Rear Window.
- 01800 - Light Switch (E1)
- 01330 - Central Control Module for Central Convenience (J393)

VCDS will report the faults until they are cleared. If you have resolved some issues, clear all the faults and see what return. Post a fresh autoscan and we start from that point trying to assist.

As I was reading the scan I was wondering if you had had a low battery. The low battery may have induced false faults that are still stored.

The locking stuff does seem to be real based on what you have said. Did you get a wiring diagram for the vehicle? They are available here: Official Factory Repair Information

I haven't resolved anything. To be honest, i'm not sure i'd be able to sort out the central locking system myself (e.g. remove door panels etc).

With regards to the horn issue, and another issue which i can't recall now, when i took it to the garage they couldn't find any issue and just cleared the codes. That sorted out the horn not working. So, presumably they cleared the codes already with regards to that issue.

With many of the problems i've had on this car, it's suggested it could be a faulty or weak battery. I've tested it a couple of times and the voltage comes back normal. So, it seems doubtful the battery is a problem.

erWin in the US costs $35 for a one day access last I looked. I have no idea what price is charged for the European access. You will have to investigate that.

Okay.... i did another scan, i cleared the DTCs, i took it for a drive, tested my car doors, did a 3rd scan, then tested the doors again.

- Both doors on the driver's side don't work when car is locked using the fob key. The two passenger doors on the other side were locked.

- I've also noticed that when the doors are locked using the fob key, the sound of the doors locking is less prominent and the car lights don't flash to signify it's locked.

Perhaps a problem with the key fob itself? Or maybe some fuses are missing?

OK, so you have at least 2 modules that are not being seen in the scan, you should be able to go to the CAN module and check the boxes for [62] Door Electronics (Rear Left) & [72] Door Electronics (Rear Right). Make a new Auto-Scan and post it back up.

If they existed as separately addressable modules in this car, I would expect the Gateway to see them and report them as "Not Registered", so I doubt that will work.

Looking at the Gateway, it is coded for 4 Doors.

Moreover, 42 and 52 are both coded for Rear Door Control Modules installed.

This leaves me somewhat puzzled as to why they don't show up anywhere, and there are not complaints by other modules that they are missing. :confused:

I didn't quite understand what you meant by 'check the boxes for.....'.I went into Control Module, found 62 & 72, clicked on each, waited for a few seconds, and received the same reply on both: 'No response from controller!'. I then did another auto-scan, and came up with same results as before,

If you changed coding in 19 Gateway, then the autoscan is different, changed coding.

Okay, i did what Ntech suggested above then did an auto-scan. Then i cleared all DTCs and did another auto-scan and cleared all DTCs again. I didn't do a 3rd scan, but after clearing the codes both times the codes sort of reappeared to let me know what they were. I'm new to this, but when i did my first auto-scan weeks ago and cleared all DTCs, i'm sure they just disappeared from the screen. See my auto-scan posts above and you'll see how many codes didn't reappear when i did my 2nd ever auto-scan.

I will post the results of today's auto-scan 1 in this post below, then today's auto-scan 2 in the next post.

As you can see they came up with differing results. In auto-scan 1 the faulty codes appeared on 09, 19, 42, 52, 62, 72 (well, on the last two it just can't seem to read them).

But in auto-scan two it found faults on 09, 19, 46, 62, 72.
