Good Evening all,
I was hoping one of you smart people could assist me with this issue I’m having with this Amaro? The issues or complain is lights on in the car, to be fai it’s like Christmas in the cab lol. 😂 the 4x4 lights are flashing in the instrument cluster along with most of the other lights, also the 4x4 lights on the centre console are illuminated and flashing.
what I have done is checked can resistance and getting a healthy 66 ohms, however I am getting no commas on the can network, it looks like the can low is being pulled to ground on the scope.
so with this in mind I have started to look for module, I have found the body control module above the fuse box in the drivers footwell, disconnected and no effect on can network also not sure what they are but disconnected a module in the centre of the car under the heater also behind the kick panel on the passenger side but unable to find anymor.

are there any more if so does anyone know where please

for what you describe and taking into account the result of your scan. It may be a problem with your CAN BUS module, or the modules that appear with a problem, because most of them say that there is no signal / communication with the modules, that can only be that it is completely damaged or disconnected or a fault in the wiring. Regarding the CAN BUS it could be that it lost the confiuration and the modules with problems, they are not in the CAN BUS list.

Check that the wiring to the modules is good and that they are on the can bus list, also check the fuses or relays. It is common that the failure of a module affects other modules.

Hello everyone,

The fact that you are getting 66 ohm, may be evidence that modules that house the terminating resistors are in good order.

I'm curious, where did you connect the scope to the network? because if you have connected after the gateway, then you may have incorrect readings. A scope must be connected before the gateway to get accurate ohm numbers and properly observe the CAN bus.

Is there a chance that you can post a picture of the network, so that we may conclude with you that it is being pulled down?

Look at your autoscan and disconnect the modules listed there one at a time, while looking at your scope and see if your CAN is restored.

Thanks for getting back to me guys much appreciated, I connected the scope via my OBD break out box. I have been disconnecting modules and as the can network did not return I plugged them back in. Should I have left them disconnected??
I will take some pictures of the scope tomorrow and post is there anything else you would like to see??
Also would anyone know the location of the can bus modules as I am struggling to find the wee buggers

Hi,

You must disconnect and then plug them back in if they are not the cause.

I notice that your vehicle has a J533, CAN gateway, on my diagrams I do not have it. Please you need to connect your scope before the J533 and also do your ohm readings there, if you connect a breakout box via the data link connector, you will get incorrect CAN and ohm readings. The gateway acts like a train station, where all the CANs (high speed, medium speed, low speed, LIN and a diagnostic machine) all meet and exchange information. So when you do your readings via the data link connector, you will be reading the resistance of several CANs and reading signals from several CANs.

Hi,

As mentioned my programme does not show the J533, while your vehicle is equipped with one. Please use google to find the location of the J533. As there will be several wires going into the J533, you will need a wiring diagram to understand everything.
I would prefer that you connect directly, e.g at J646 CAN wires and observe the communication from there. But before you do that you will need to properly check the powers and grounds of the modules which are not communicating. You really need a wiring diagram to trouble shoot this.
