Yes, it's true. The blue HEX-NETs, which all have serial numbers beginning with "HN2-" support DoIP.

However, we haven't made a big splash about it because there are still no cars that actually require DoIP for diagnostic functions.

Correct. We were worried that the ID.x platform would require DoIP, and wanted to have something ready to handle that if it was necessary.

In addition, the original HEX-NET had been in production since early 2014, so it was time for a general refresh with various updated components, including but not limited to the microcontroller and the the WiFi module.

Yes, if/when DoIP becomes a necessity, we intend to offer an upgrade program.
