Specifically 5Q0907685 / 5Q0907686?
also known as the "Blindspot Radars".

I need to tap into the CANBUS High and CANBUS Low pins, so i can connect a TPMS (direct) controller module that i'm looking to retrofit to my 2017 Skoda Superb.

I've read XAGICO's write-up on the TPMS retrofit, a number of times. However he's connected it up differently with the Golf 7 wiring - he ran wires from the canbus gateway at the front, through the sides and into the rear. I don't want to do that.

A Kodiaq owner has tapped into the BSD radar for the CANBUS connections. I'm looking to do the same. See blue arrow in pic below.
The BSD radar connector has 6 wires. I'm trying to figure out which one/pin is CANBUS High and CANBUS Low.

I'll source power for the TPMS from the boot 12v source.

Any help would b much appreciated.

CAN wires are easily spotted using wire colors. Orange/gray for CAN-H and orange/brown for CAN-L in case of CAN Extended.

Please use a properly fused battery live voltage source instead of a power socket. For the TPMS module, it should be fuse SC7.

Thanks very much @siLc - much appreciated regarding how to identify the CANBUS wires.

With regards to the power source - that would b my preference too.
Ideally I route a power source from the fuse box up front, but I'm not keen on removing all the side trims, rear seats and all the boot liners to get the wire to the TPMS module.

The module requires a permanent power source, not a switched/ignition power source.

I don't know if there would b an alternate existing power source at the back of the car?

Ah, I just realised wat u were referring to by "fuse SC7".
Yes, I'll b using a 12v cigarette lighter plug with a built in SC7 fuse, like this.....

No, not this thing pictured. SC7 is fuse 7 in the fusebox under the dashboard. Power sockets usually provide switched voltage, so that wouldn't be suitable.

If you want alternatives to dismantling the interior, post an autoscan to help us see how your car is configured - if there is anything in the rear part of the car which uses battery voltage.

The BSD radar connector has 6 wires. I'm trying to figure out which one/pin is CANBUS High and CANBUS Low.

Master J1086 right - connector T8bs
3 - CAN high to pin 19 on BCM plug B (white)
4 - CAN low to pin 18 on BCM plug B (white)
5 - GND
6 - to Slave 6
7 - to Slave 7
8 - +12V, terminal 15a

Slave J1087 left - connector T8br
3 - lamp mirror right K304
4 - lamp mirror left K303
5 - GND
6 - from Master 6
7 - from Master 7
8 - +12V, terminal 15a

so now the CANBUS pins r sorted, its time to sort out my power options.

I have 3 options for power:-

1. Easiest - source from the 12v cig lighter in the boot. this is a constant power source.

2. unknown - source power from the trailer electrics (SC44), a suggested option by @XaGiCo .
Problem is my car doesn't come with a tow bar fitted, but I hear the Superb comes with "tow bar preparation (electrics)" in place. I also noticed in my car's fuse board, location 44 has a 15 amp fuse in it already.
I removed the left side C-pillar and I can see these two plugs. I'm hoping the black connector is the towbar electrics (???), if so I can then tap into that for SC44 power source.

3. Hardest, but ideal - source power from the Fuse board under the dash, specifically piggyback from Fuse Location 7 (SC7 - preferred option).
I've had a closer look, and I think I've figured a path from the fuse board to the rear boot, without having to remove the interior door sill trims. Essentially I can tuck the wire under the headliner, and reach behind the boot trim.

Go OEM and use dedicated fuse after ignition (terminal 15).
Also CAN bus wires should be isolated from the rest of the network via dedicated relay triggered by ignition switch. More details below. Different platform but same principle.

This is for PQ25 but the vehicle at hand is MQB. This does not apply.

The fact that SC44 is occupied, doesn't mean the vehicle has trailer prep. Check the build sticker in spare wheel well or service book. If PR code 1D0 is present, there is no trailer prep. 1D8 is for trailer prep. If you REALLY want to avoid running new wires from the front, you can use the supply voltage for the electric rear lid module. That is on battery voltage.

mine definitely has the trailer hitch preparation, which I verified using Erwin Skoda to get the vehicle build report of all the PR-codes based on my VIN number.
it has "1D7 - Trailer Hitch Preparation" listed (see screenshot below). this is the wiring harness from the front to the back.
it doesn't have the trailer control module, or the wiring after that to the towbar as i don't have it fitted.

nonetheless, I'm going to follow ur advice and run power from the front fuse board. I'm going to piggyback off fuse 44 (trailer device, since i don't actually have a towbar in use), and run it (under the headliner) to the back.

thanks for ur help

Unfortunately my plans to piggyback of Fuse #44 (trailer) is hampered due to the extra tall pink fuse in location #43 :(

My concern with Fuse #7 is that a number of things will reset or loose settings if I pull the fuse.
Fuse #7 is responsible for Air conditioning, heating, receiver for the remote control for the auxiliary heating, heated rear window, heated windscreen, clock.
or will there b no issues?

My alternatives, pending a multi meter test (for constant power), are:-
- Fuse #10 (10A Infotainment screen, TV tuner, ExBoxM2)
- Fuse #22 (15A Towing hitch)
- Fuse #30 (20A 12v Boot Socket) this one is constant power supply.
Leaning towards using this one as there is lots of space around it to cater for a piggy back.

ur thoughts @siLc ?

An aussie car with an auxiliary heater and heater windscreen? Have the oceans frozen over? :) Just joking, your car doesn't have neither.

Thats a guarantee nobody can give you. If you want to be sure, just disconnect the battery before...and run the wire under the sill plates instead of the headliner. Sorry, that's also a half-measure. If you're worried about undesireable noises after reinstalling, then the sills hardly exhibit this.

It's all working now - thanks for ur help.
It's tapped to Fuse location 30, and I've run the wiring under the door sill trim.
The TPMS module was already parameterized, so there was no need for me to use VCP to get it working. However, I'll need to update the parameter file so it has the correct tyre profile, based on my car.

Good work! What's the tpms unit you used? Is it 5Q0907273B? How did you choose to place the unit on the left side and not the right? I am under the impression that the oem side is the right one. Also did you try to mount it in the trunk space somewhere or you only tried the outside of the car?

I'm waiting for this to do the same retrofit:

That looks like the proper holder for it and from the parts catalogue schematics, also looks like the correct mounting position :)

Thank you. Yes, that is the unit part number.

I put it on the left side because:-
- the BCM module is on the left side
- the TPMS's wire length is not long enough if placed on the right side
- the guides show placement on the left side.

My preference was to mount it behind the bumper, so it's accessible from under the car, just in case.
I had the OEM holder for the TPMS unit. I just had to trim a little of the top bit of the holder so I could mount it with the bumper guide holder.

Putting in the boot is doable. Don't see any problems if u want to do that.

With tech dependent on the propagation of radio waves, it would be wise to not deviate too much from the factory installation position.

Also, a suggestion for next time - use Tesa tape to wrap the retrofitted wires together before running them. Use fluffy cloth tape on the interior and textured tape (model 51006) on the exterior. Helps to keep things tidy and prevent chafing. The corrugated piping is also a good idea for additional protection.
