and finally decided to ditch my china cable/VCDS Lite combo for the real deal.

Speaking of which, how was that combo for non-VAG group vehicles (if known), please?

As I'm wondering if Lite would have similar abilities to say Launch, Autel, Foxwell, and other handheld scanners/garage servicing tools...

Of course, I've already seen the standard OBD stuff of the full VCDS, just curious about the possibilities of Lite with say an OBDLink in general perhaps

VCDS-Lite only knows how to talk via K-Lines. It cannot communicate directly via CAN bus. It also requries a "dumb" interface. K-line protocol is just like RS-232, except that its half-duplex with different voltage levels. So something like an OBDLink interface likely won't work.
