Hi folks, thanks so much taking a look at my problem. Car is 2012 Q7 TDI
Few weeks ago I lost ac, there were no codes present, HVAC control ac button would stay on, and did not blink. Checked the AC low and high pressure and it was within specs. On audi g65 valve goes our pretty frequently so I replaced it as a first step. That did not resolve the issue, I had a hard time determining if the compressor clutch was engaging so I spliced the compressor wire about 8 inches from the compressor wire plug (please note, I did not cut the wire just spliced it) and give it 12V I did not hear the clutch engaging but I did get a code: 01232 - A/C Compressor Regulator Valve (N280) - not sure if me splicing the wire and applying the voltage caused an HVAC controller issue. I also had 01320 - Control Module for Climatronic (J255). Deleting both codes did not work, they came right back up, I tried multiple times.
I got a new compressor and changed it out, the old compressor was bone dry and the clutch seized for sure so I was on the right track, bonus here is that compressor comes with brand new N280 valve built into it, but the code 01232 did not go away. I was unable to charge the AC because this code prevented the compressor from turning on. I then consulted a mechanic friend and he instructed me to cut the compressor wire and run power directly to it - please note that this time I cut the wires completely off. This got the compressor on and I was able to refill the system and the temp in cabin dropped as well, but when I connected the wires back into the loom the codes were still present and AC did not work, the AC button on the controller in the cabin did not blink, and it did stay on. This is what I did next without any success of getting rid of 01232:
-located the ground for the compressor wire - checked continuity and it was good
-I cut the ground wire about 8 inches from the compressor plug and ran new ground to new spot
-I checked the continuity from my cut to the female socket on the plug - it was good
-performed adaptation on the front HVAC control unit - channel 1 and 3, cannel 5 caused the "upper limit exceed code"
-put in used rear HVAC control - the 01320 code also remained with the new unit
I think that my issue might be the front HVAC controller but I don't know how to code the used unit to the car, it tells me that the vin is an issue - rear used unit did not require coding. Can someone help me with how to "teach" the new unit what the vin is. Channel 81 under HVAC adaptation says error and does not let me input anything the cell for entering values is grayed out. Any other input and ideas are welcomed, thanks in advance!
