Hello!

I need assistance to diagnose a 2008 VW Polo 1.4L 9N.
The motor is running very rough and VCDS is telling me:

Lambda: -16.0 %
Speed: 0.0 km/h
Temperature: 79.0°C
Absolute Pres.: 370.0 mbar
RPM: 806 /min

Readiness: 0110 0101

Complete Auto-scan in the end of the post.

The owner has already replaced the spark plugs, the coils and the battery, but no change.
Afterwards we switched coil between no. 2 and 3. No change.
The spark plug will be replaced again as soon as possible, but I actually do not belive the spark plug to be the problem.

So, what should we do? Any measurement blocks I should look at, e.g. fuel injection?
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Hi UWSCSI,
A compression test is your starting point.
Regards HMC

Does the new sparkplug come out extremely clean on that cylinder? if so then its a no fuel in that cylinder.
does it come out wet? then either compreswsion or ignition.
have you physically checked that theres spark at that sparkplug? sparkplug out, igition coil connected to plug on one end and wiring on the other. sparkplug grounded and then start or crank the engine. replacing plugs and coils wont be of use if theres a problem with the wiring to the coil etc

If it has the separate belt for the exhaust cam and has had a cam belt since the misfire started, check the cam belt with the correct tools. Can cause individual misfire codes if the exhaust cam is set incorrectly. (Don't ask me how I know!)
