Hello Group,

I have this issue with my son's car , it started when he let the battery completely die several times. I have got the pin using a VAG-TACHO cable and am having trouble getting access to recode keys with my VAGCOM cable no matter what I try it won't let me access with code from vag-tacho any ideas, Thanks for your time I have only spent weeks on this issue so far,
Smiles

With "signal too low" code there will be no success in key programming...
Possible reasons:
- faulty key,
- faulty reader coil or wiring from it to cluster (as immo signal is very low level, increased resistance in connectors may cause this, too)
- faulty internal circuitry in cluster, responsible for receiving and recognizing signals from key. MK4 clusters use to die that way...

If You want to solve it ASAP, I'd suggest You to take Jack's offer ;)
If You want to solve it Yourself and learn how things are made and how they work, get another cluster. Best exactly the same part number.

Could try cleaning connections and some Stabilant 22A quick too but my way is permanent.

Everytime the light comes on in my TDI and the engine stays running I laugh and point my middle finger at the cluster saying "NOT TODAY YMF!"

To answer your email the TV is the "throttle valve"

It's connected to throttle cable and controls the flap for idle with a servo.

Additionally is the TPS.

Clean and lubricate yours, WD-40 is fine.

Make sure Throttle cable not too tight or loose checking range using RTFB

The TV is adapted by the ECU using a tool such as VCDS.

0x01-04-060

The TV stepper motor must move backward 5mm before it can commence forward to perform an adaption.

Thanks Jack, I will get right on that. The money I spent on a ROSS-TECH VCDS cable was worth every penny and if I knew how valuable it was I would have bought one the same day as I bought the car. This little adventure alone has saved me tons of money, by being able to diagnose that the immobilizer was the culprit saved a minimum $165.00 shop charge. Then having the access to this forum and resources like yourself has placed the value over the top.
For those who are curious I have sent my ECU to Jack and he has done his magic on it. I have yet to receive it however as he lives on the east coast and I'm on the west coast so snail mail lives up to it's name. I will post back and let everyone know what the outcome is, as if there is any doubt. Now to clean/ adjust / adapt that throttle valve assy.

Your package is in CA already & out for delivery or been delivered, if not be sure to make arrangements or be there for signature is indeed required.

Jack you sent this to him he never receive it on 11/7/20.
You then replaced it at no cost a second time?
And now he's leaving you hanging with no follow up?

Good Luck

Affirmative Stan Lee Marvel Comics,

That is what he said, as did post master, so sent him replacement, delivered and signed for.

Was just reaching out to know what happened with second unit and if all is okay for his kid?

Really sorry to have taken so long to respond, my family unexpectedly flew me to Texas for the Thanksgiving holiday. We recieved the second unit last tuesday and my son tried to get it working to no avail. I got home yesterday and tried to start the car, the car cranks and the immobilizer activated light is flashing on the dash board, thats as far as I've gotten., Again sorry to have left you hanging . I will get the vag-com out and do a test to get that information and trudge forward.
