Hello everybody
I got a RNS MFD1 and I want to add a backup camera. Done all the connections, it even automatically switches to video when in reverse but...no video, just black screen.
I googled for info and ran over a video tutorial...saying that the head unit should be adapted on group 56 Radio, channel... from 0 to 1.
I'm no longer able to find that video again, as well as adaptation channels info for RNS MFD1.
The camera I'm using is 5N0827566D and the unit 3B0035191G
Any info is apreciated.
Thank you

We will definitely need to see a full unedited VCDS Auto-Scan of the vehicle you are fitting the camera to in order to suggest what coding and/or adaptation changes will be needed.

My son's car (MK6 TDI) is having the same issue with a retrofitted back-up camera (in the badge). When we contacted the point of sale, they said that if the screen changes on the RNS when shifting into reverse, and changes back to a traditional display when out of reverse, your coding is correct and that it is a power issue to the camera (either 12v or the reverse light trigger). We haven't solved our problem either BTW.

Did you recode the RNS (510 I presume) after camera instalation? You need to "tell" the unit it's got a backup camera connected.

How did you convert the 5N0827566 camera's RGB signal to be suitable for the antique RNS-MFD/RNS-D?

I didn't have to. Actually I was afraid it would be the RGB version, as the ones I already installed (retrofited) on my Golf mk5 and VW T5 Multivan but I had a surprise when got it, the video cable Fakra connector had only two wires instead of four, that indicates it should be a composite video signal. Therefore I'm lost because I don't know what's the reason for black screen only, is it the MFD that needs adaptation, is it the camera or both? :) The problem is that the designated car for this retrofit is not mine, so for every "step" I have to coordinate an availability day...

OK. Since no suggestions so far, It seems that I have to figure it out all by myself.
Thank you anyway.
